Hello! I was wondering, why do you like Might Guy? Also, do you like his eyebrows?

Omg thank you for the ask!! I’m in my feels about Gai so from the bottom of my heart, bless you. God, where do I start? This may be long ahaha

Firstly, yes, I love his eyebrows. Why? I don’t know. Let’s just say back in 2003 when everyone was rocking pencil brows, Gai embraced his inner fashion icon and decided that thick was In™. Iconic. Beautiful. No words. And his first appearance? If he weren’t a ninja he should have walked the catwalk, let’s be real.

So why do I like Gai? Well, put simply:

1. He’s the dad we all wish we had

2. He’s the friend we all wish we had

3. This number is reserved to gush about stuff I didn’t get to in my last points

ONE

Let’s look at him in terms of Lee. Gai wasn’t even Lee’s teacher when he approached him first. He is a man of empathy and saw himself in Lee, only lacking the self-confidence Gai had as a child. He’s always been there for Lee, even when faced with death, Gai understood Lee and encouraged him to follow his dreams. And promised to die with him of it were to fail!! Hell, he even changed his ninja way to dedicate himself to raising Lee into a fine ninja. Not just Lee though, Gai is full of positivity and love for all children!

For his entire team but not just restricted to them either: (context: Gai ‘sneaks’ food to Choji et al on a mission and pretends he didn’t)

I genuinely think he’s one of the only adults who realise these kids are fucking…. children?? Yanno? And treats them as such?

Even when Gai disciplines, he’s forgiving, and understanding!! The show plays this off as comedy but it’s so important as an adult in charge of kids.

He just has a lot of emotional intelligence in general, which brings me to my next point!

TWO

He’s the friend we wish we all had. Whether you ship KakaGai platonically or romantically, we can all agree that Gai holds a special place in Kakashi’s heart, and vice versa.

I truly believe that without Gai, Kakashi would have been doomed to a spiralling depression of sorts. Gai knew that the ANBU wasn’t good for Kakashi and begged to be allowed in for Kakashi’s sake.

When he was rejected, he begged for Kakashi to be taken out. He cares about his friends so much! He knew it wasn’t good mentally for him! He puts the needs of others above himself!

Gai has been there for Kakashi right in the way he needed him since day one and always will be…. No.1 friend right there.

Dai did such a good job raising you, Gai.

The iconic moment where he fly kicked Jira*ya in the face? Need I say more?

Anyway….. if I ever met someone like Gai in real life I’d marry them in a heartbeat? He’s upbeat, enthusiastic, good with kids, emotionally intelligent, strong, empathetic and passionate.
