Pitter-patter of heavy rain resonated through the cool London evening. Shoes hit the wet pavement and caused puddles to disperse, they hopped their ways to join their neighboring pools of water. Rain that hit the edge of the umbrella sprayed across the face of the handlers, adding to the cool breeze that wafted through the air.

Cell phone pressed between your face and shoulder, you held onto your black umbrella and tugged your grey coat closer to your shivering body, attempting to protect yourself from the breeze that would only blow cooler and cooler as you approached closer to home.

“Hi, darling. I just wanted to let you know I’m on my way back to the flat. I hope all is alright and that you’re not stuck at the airport,” you murmured into the phone. You stopped at the crosswalk, the soft glow of red orange and the zooming of cars preventing them from getting them home.

“I haven’t heard from you since you departed from Paris, love. Just wanted to call and check up on you. Ring me back when you’ve gotten this. I love you,” you ended the message and quickly stuffed your phone into your pocket, power walking your way home once the red orange turned into a bright white light.
