It's wild to me how much the mcyt community has broken Twitch. By that I mean all the metrics that Twitch used to use to show what streamers were worth "investing" in per se (putting forward for sponsored streams, on the main page, using them as promotional images) the mcytters have completely broken.

Look at Twitch Tracker right now. The metric they use to determine rank is a mix of highest average viewership, follower gain and time streamed.

Right now, for the month of August, the Top 10 Streamers on Twitch are: AuronPlays, TommyInnit, Loud_Coringa, KarlJacobs, xQc* , WilburSoot, Sapnap, RanbooLive, Ibai, Asmongold.

Of those streamers, TommyInnit, KarlJacobs and WilburSoot are the 3 with the highest amount of viewers during their streams.

Of the top 10 the following have streamed less than 10 hours in the month of August: KarlJacobs, WilburSoot and Sapnap.

Two years ago, if you had said you could be among the Top 10 Streamers on Twitch while streaming six hours over a thirty day period there's no way anyone would believe you.

If you would say that someone could disappear for weeks on a time, pop up and do a random stream, and actually grow as a channel you'd be going against everything that, for years, had said was the tried and true formula for building and maintaining an online presence on any platform.

MCYT is slowly moving away from the traditional Twitch format of gaining an audience by being accessible. Instead it's now an event just for there to be a stream.

There's some discussion that could be made about how new streamers can't benefit from that, but also this trend is really healthier for both the streamer and the communities around it.

I don't know. I just nerd out about trends like this.

It used to be you need dozens, if not hundreds, of hours streamed a month to be considered a "serious" streamer. TimtheTatMan used to be considered a "slacker" streamer and anomaly for his success....for only streaming five days a week for 4-5 hours a day. This is on top of streamers being expected to maintain community engagement, social media and youtube.

Now you have WilburSoot who uploads on YouTube once a month, streams an hour at a time once or twice a week, and doesn't use most social media.

Who knows what internet success will look like by this time next year.

anyways um yall remember the mcytblr elections? idk how many of you guys were in the discord server for it, but there was an incident where someone outed another person as a truther. not only that, sent screenshots from an enderbees discord. now, these are not my screenshots. i was not in this discord, these were provided by someone in the server. i only saved these because i recognized someone in the screenshot as an enthusiastblr member.

this is the screenshot i got from the elections server, and i saved the actual images here:

and yeah, uh. ive had these screenshots for a while. i only sent them to a few people in enthusiastblr who were close with rei bupine because i was concerned as to whether they knew about this, and i didn't want to associate with truthers.

there was also an incident when tubbo put the flag emoji in his twitter bios, where rei was a little too excited about this new development. i know the posts are deleted now, but i was lucky enough to screenshot some of the posts when they happened

this was nowhere near the only posts, but this was all i managed to get at the time before blocking.

rei's current url is lmanberg. i didn't know this, and confused the url with lmanburg, which belongs to another truther i have blocked. so i checked the blog when a mutual rb'd from them and saw it was rei.

someone in qlsc did a little digging, and saw that tommyofcolor, whose old url used to be lmanburg, posted this when asked about other saved urls

meaning, well, they interact enough to trade urls. tommyofcolor is also in the original screenshots that i got from the mcytblr election server.
