Sauron has always been more of a follower than a ruler. First, he followed Aulë who, apparently, did not appreciated him enough. Then Morgoth, who took him to the path of evil. And then there's galadriel, to whom he willingly wanted to bind himself.

Many may think (and rightly so) that he would've corrupted her eventually had she joined him but there's also a small glimmer of possibility that it could be the opposite and that she could redeemed him instead. Bring him back to the light. Atleast Sauron feels the same if his vision is anything to go by.

The way Sauron's crown slowly disappears as the sun aligns with his head and the light brightens around him like he's basking in galadriel's light- this is a vision of a redeemed Sauron.

It represents his belief that with her by his side, he won't become the Dark Lord.
