Drabble request: Erik adopts a kitten

[I switched it up a teenie bit I hope thats okay!]

As soon as Erik walked into the apartment you knew something was up. He shuffled in from the rain huffing. 

“Hey baby whats up, you good?” He spoke quickly, pulling off his shoes and ducking into the kitchen. You glared at the spot where he was once standing.

 "I told you to bring an umbrella!“ You shouted out. 

"Yeah yeah, Im cool though Im fine!” His voice was a little higher than usual so you knew he was hiding something. You stood from you seat in the couch and went to the kitchen, standing in the frame of the entrance. His back was to you in the fridge. He was mumbling to himself.

 “Starvin’ i bet, milk? Maybe? Man..i dont know.” You cleared your throat and Erik jumped, slamming the refrigerator door. 

“What’s going on?” You asked, he turned to you and cleared his throat. He went to speak but when he opened his mouth a gentle, ‘mewww’ came out.

  "What..was that?“  You walked closer to him, he walked backward but ended up bumping into the fridge. Another soft 'meow’ came from him, this time you realized it was from his big hoodie pocket. 

"Theres a cat in your hoodie.” You pointed at him. “Nah man, you trippin.” Suddenly a furry head poked out of his wet hoodie and he sighed. “Come on bruh.” he poked the kittens head and it slipped back inside. 

“Where did you get him?” “Her.” He corrected and reached inside his pocket, pulling her out. “The Jig is up kid. Shes onto us.” He spoke to her and held her in his hand. You eyed him, then the cat, waiting. 

“Look she was following me, and I was like 'iight cool, I got company thats fine.’ but then it started raining and man.. she started crying and shit." 

You stared at him as he explained, not looking at you once, just looking at the cat. "And I was like iight lemme put you in my pocket till it stops, but it aint stop and then I ended up back here, and she was cryin’ in the elevator so I assumed she was hungry so.. kittens drink milk right? We got any milk?" 

A laugh flew out of you and he glanced up at you with a light smile on his face. "So..we can keep her?” You couldn’t stop smiling, he sounded like a little kid asking for permission. 

 "You named her already didn’t you?“ Erik shrugged, then nodded slowly. "Kid.” The cat meowed and he smiled at her. “See, she’s used to it. Right Kid?” The cat meowed again and you rolled your eyes and sighed softly. “Milk’s on the top shelf, way in the back.”
