can't stop thinking about how Mary being gay recontextualizes so much about how that conversation goes and how the the main theme of love and desire never being wrong or a sin connects...like it was really obvious she probably wasn't straight in the original but yknow the 90s and shit so having this now feels like the Real Version of the character and it works so perfectly...

And having Balthalmos also be more clearly gay in this version right after that conversation and having his own powerful moment of "desire is not sin" to ensure that Lyra and Will get to grow up? Everything, all love, being connected >>> the fucking best
