16: speed walk to conclusions

hana ran out of the dorm as soon as she lied to anton about just getting to the school after from the mall. she was so urgent about getting to anton’s dorm without being caught that she didn’t even realize she was still wearing the sweatshirt that belonged to hwang intak.

she made it to anton’s side of the building, receiving a text from him saying that he just got to his room. she hid behind a corner, waiting a few minutes before finally going up and knocking.

when anton opened the door, he was greeted by a somewhat anxious hana, who was awkwardly playing with her hands.

“hey,” anton said, smiling to himself at how tiny hana looked in the sweatshirt she was basically drowning in. it looked too big for her size, falling down to her mid-thigh. that confused anton a little bit. he quickly went through his closet in his mind, assuming that the sweatshirt she was wearing was his, but after realizing it wasn’t, he asked her about it.

“new sweatshirt?”

hana mentally cursed to herself after realizing what she was still wearing. “yeah. new sweatshirt.”

“i love it, you look cute,” anton grins, reaching out for her hand to bring her in the dorm. she smiled at his compliment, gulping out of the guilt for lying straight to her boyfriend’s face.

hana loved anton, or at least she thought she did. everyday she realizes how different they were from each other, slowly losing the spark she once felt for him. if she was being completely honest with herself now, she saw anton as a backup boyfriend. he was sweet but gullible, would do anything to make her happy, and she would use him to get what she wanted. and hypothetically, if things with her friends or anyone else went wrong, she at least had anton to rely on.

hwang intak made hana truly happy. he was exactly like her. two-faced. but neither of them would ever admit that out loud.

she didn’t want to be with anton any longer, and a part of her felt bad for the guy, but breaking up with him or confessing to her lies would only give in to how she knew others viewed her. it would prove that people were right. she’s a bad person.

“i.. i have to go now,” hana said. he was behind her, arms were wrapped around her waist as they laid on his bed. he was half-asleep, groaning when she tried to remove his hands from where they were placed on his stomach.

“whyyy?” anton complained, pulling her closer to him. he took a deep breath, inhaling her scent since he missed get the opportunity to do that earlier. his head tilted slightly in confusion, focusing on the smell she was giving off. it was unfamiliar to him, way different from any perfume she usually wore.

she stifled a smile. “i have things i need to do.. for class anton,” she said apologetically. he released her from his grip and she sat up. fixing her hair. rubbing at his eyes, he sat up with her, admiring her features and the little sparkle in her eyes he never seem to get over.

she slowly pushed herself off his bed, heading towards the door to put her shoes on.

“stop calling me anton,” he suddenly said.

“huh?” she furrowed her brows. “that’s your name isnt it?”

he sighed, forcing out a light amused smile. “what happened to toni? you haven’t called me that in forever.”

“sorry, toni,” she said, making her way back to him. by now his feet were placed on the floor, allowing her to stand between his legs as he looked up at her. she placed a short kiss on his lips and he smiled briefly, rubbing the side of her thigh with his thumb. “i’ll see you later.”

he nodded as she headed back towards the door of his dorm. “text me whenever,” he quickly called out to her. she gave him a quick thumbs up before shutting the door behind her and secretly making her way back to intak’s dorm.

anton sighed. he couldn’t get her scent out of hid mind, still confused as to why she smelled like another dude’s cologne.
