Thissss. I grew up Catholic, and while I got lucky in the sense that my church was significantly more accepting than others, there were still things it just plain hurt to hear. I remember clearly being told that we were not to judge others with different “lifestyles.” But another youth group thing I went to made it clear that being gay was considered a sin. I don’t think anyone in either lecture ever wondered if there was a gay person listening. I remember they took questions at the end, and I thought about asking why being gay was such a crime. I chickened out, but someone else didn’t.

Nothing quite like spewing hate and then having a child ask why.

I hate it when Christians are like "you'll burn in hell for that" when people are doing something, or "[insert minority group] will burn in hell". Like how does that affect you? Even if I will burn in hell for being trans, you're not going to burn in hell for not telling me I'll burn in hell. If anything, you're more likely to burn in hell because of telling me that, because love thy neighbour shouldn't be such a fucking difficult commandment to follow.
