Summary: Reema is an evacuated Palestinian studying pharmacy abroad in Egypt (read this post for more context). The current short term goal is CAD $21,800 for a new laptop (including gfm and banking fees) by Oct 20. See under the cut for details.

Read the first campaign details post for what happened in this campaign so far. I also added some explanation on her financial situation and where the money she already raised is (summary: she can't get it quickly due to banking restrictions).

Reema needs a new laptop after losing her old one.

The laptop she wants is USD $1,200 or CAD $1,629. Taking into account gfm and transfer fees, I've estimated that it'll cost $1,800. This number is subject to change with additional details.

She needs the laptop before her tests in early November. To account for shipping times and preventing procrastination, I've set the deadline to Oct 20.

Additional funds will go towards other school supplies and providing for Reema's family in Palestine because they've supported her.

Sep 22: It's unclear when Reema can access the $15k already earned (hence some uncertainty about deadlines), but I haven't been able to get full answers as she got a bad case of the flu and isn't online often. However, I don't want this campaign to drag on forever when her family could still use funds, so I'd like to get this laptop deal over with soon.

it’s the indignity of fundraising on here. people on here want everything to know about the verified campaigns for families that need help surviving almost a year of genocide. they always want more. they want every minutiae of tragedy, they want exactly how long someone’s brother walks every day to get water, they want the truth, THE LOSS, to be “contextualized” for them. some families are extremely private and they don’t want their children’s faces to be plastered on the internet, so that you can see just how starved and scared they are. some families despite their comfort level DO show their most vulnerable to the internet and still struggle to get any donations for hours, days, or even weeks.

One week to raise funds

@mohammedhaboubsblog was a college student with his twin sister Farah before their lives were destroyed by the Israeli genocide of gaza. Him and his sister were both badly injured by IOF attacks and with your gracious help they were able to pay for treatment in Gaza and evacuate Farah to Egypt to recoeve treatment for her deteriorating condition.

Mohammed has expressed so much gratitude and thanks for the kindness you've all shown to him and now we have a chance to help them resume the lives they were building for themselves.

In a message from a few days ago, Mohammed impressed upon me that he needed to collect the next short term goal so that he can register for classes which are starting at the the end of September.

That gives us 7 days to raise 49,916 SEK or $4,894 USD !

I've been reading the updates on Gaza, and what I've read has made me extremely worried about Mohammed (@ahmed0khalil) and his family who are in Deir el-Balah right now.

There have been continuous relentless attacks on Deir el-Balah. Israel has been targeting tents in Deir el-Balah. Just a few hours ago, Israeli fighters have just bombed a home in that area, killing at least 5 people, including 2 children.

Mohammed and his family are sheltering in a UN classroom right now. Israel is known to target schools sheltering displaced people. Just yesterday another school where displaced families are sheltering has been attacked. This is the fourth school Israel has bombed in less than a week! But they don't have nearly enough funds to evacuate!

Mohammed is only 19 years old and he has 5 siblings. Things have been difficult for them his brother Fathi who is blind, his other brother Abdullah who is autistic and does not understand what is happening, and little 6-year-old Ahmed. They are all suffering from malnutrition because they don't have enough money to buy food, and that is on top of the frequent attacks they have to face every day!
