For example, one RP plot involves the Uchiha massacre never happening, another is Sasuke finding her just in time to get help, and this other one is that Itachi is actually unable to kill her because of his feelings for her.

Springtime was Izumi’s favourite time of the year. Not too hot, not too cold… Perfect. She adored the way the warm sun kissed her pale skin and the cool, luscious breeze blew her hair behind her as she strolled through the Leaf Village, keen to see her childhood best friend.

It had been far, far too long since they had met together. With missions keeping Izumi busy on top of training, cooking, cleaning, and everything else life had thrown at her, she terribly missed her dear friend, Ryuu.

When her bestie came into her field of vision, she couldn’t help but grin and open her arms, inviting her in for a well-needed best friend cuddle.

“Hey, you! I’ve been pretty tired with back-to-back missions and stuff, but aside from that, I’ve been fine. How have you been? I’ve missed you, too!”

How long had it been since she had seen her? Had Ryuu grown taller since the last time? Izumi could’ve sworn that they were the same height…

“I’m so glad that I’ve got a few days off… I think I deserve a break with my girl, right?”

She giggled sweetly and took one of Ryuu’s hands in hers, squeezing it tenderly. The Uchiha’s hand was slightly smaller, like her hand was meant to fit there.

Shaking off this… Somewhat familiar feeling in her stomach, she glanced up at her Nara friend with a face full of excitement.

“What do you feel like doing? I’m up for anything!”

spring really had arrived. and ryuu was very happy about it. she had just gotten out of the yamanaka flower shop which was blossoming with new arrivals and freshly picked flowers. though she hadn't gone there to get a bouquet for a loved one in the hospital or a rose for mock flirting with anko.

her reason was to meet yamanaka inoichi. she was in great relations with the clan head and the clan itself. the man had himself summoned her to discuss her entry into the T&I department of konohagakure. he had been suggesting it to her for a long time and ryuu had finally agreed.

but all the work stuff flew out of her mind when she remembered who she had to meet next. she often short circuited around her. thank god she was good at playing it off cool and not being a see through glass infront of her.

it was criminal, ryuu always complained, just how pretty her best friend was. too pretty. too too pretty.

and it was downright illegal how izumi seemed like she had no clue about what she did to ryuu. and she frolicked around looking like a million ryos.

‎if ryuu's heart finally failed, contact izumi uchiha for all the financial compensation.

keeping her dramatics aside was often an impossible job but as soon as her beady brown eyes landed on the girl always plaguing her thoughts, ryuu stood straight. cleared her throat and ran towards her.

"izumi!" she practically threw herself at izumi and was only able to be stopped by izumi's incredible stability and strength. though one can also argue that the nara had put no strength whatsoever.

"missed ya best friend." she squeezed her tight, shutting her eyes closed and was immediately engulfed with the familiar scent of her childhood best friend.

then she finally backed off, smiling, grinning. "how are you?"

The vibrant colours of the setting sun caught Izumi’s attention for a moment. The different shades of yellows, oranges and reds splashed against the blue sky was--

--Had she… Heard that right? Itachi Uchiha, calling her strong? For as long as Izumi could remember, she had always admired him. His strength, his bravery, his pure heart… Everything about him captivated her, so to hear him compliment her as he did sent warmth through her chest.

Izumi enjoyed receiving compliments, but they were different when they came from Itachi. He affected her in a different way.

A small but joyful grin appeared on her features, meeting her midnight-coloured eyes as hers and Itachi’s fingers interlocked. Small gestures such as those were special to her as the older Uchiha wasn’t exactly a huge fan of physical affection unless it involved his little brother.

“Did you just unintentionally ask me if I would like you to be by my side, Itachi?”

She glanced at the boy by her side out of the corner of her eye as a light, crimson hue painted her cheeks and the top of her ears.

“… I would really like that. Itachi and Izumi taking on the world! I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.”

Izumi closed her eyes and hummed as the fresh, evening wind blew through her dark brown locks. Up there on the balcony, she felt so free, so calm… Except for the fact that her childhood crush was standing right next to her, staring nonchalantly at the other households in the Uchiha Compound. At least, that’s how Itachi would come across to others, but to Izumi? No. The cogs in Itachi’s mind were turning so quickly that she could practically hear them.

“Itachi, I think we should talk.…”

She started feebly, working up the courage to have a heart-to-heart with the Uchiha Prodigy.

“The last week or so has been rough on you, Tenma and Ryuu… But, now, I just wanna talk about you and how you feel for a minute. Is that okay?”

Her hands settled on a spot in front of her on the balcony’s handrail and she took a deep breath, exhaling sharply.

“How have you been handling your Sharingan? I’m still struggling with mine, so… I just want you to know that I’m here for you no matter what.”

(hypothetically) modern universe where izumi and ryuu have a phone and they send each other weird stuff all the time. ryuu loves toads and frogs btw
