Chapter 1: Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman Spiderboy

warnings: cursing, mentions of fighting and weapons, mild injuries (nothing serious lol)

After reading the last text in the group chat, Jisung places his phone in his suit pocket, which he made himself. He stands up, cracks his back, and stretches to loosen up his sore muscles after sitting on the top of a 40-story building. 

He pulls his mask back over his ears after trying to listen for any signs of crime in the city with his enhanced hearing. He takes a few steps for a running start, then dives off the side building, using his self-made web shooters to swing through the city.

He passes by all of the large screens lighting up the city with advertisements and the news. He hears the agitating voice that comes from none other than J. Jonah Jameson, the journalist and news anchor who hates Spiderman like no other.

Jisung rolls his eyes as he swings by the screen, playing the miserable man's rant about how awful Spider-Man is shooting a web over where his mouth is on the screen. "Jackass" Jisung mumbles to himself as he heads towards 35th Avenue. 

As he reaches 35th Avenue, he swings to the top of a nearby building to scope out the area. He uses his enhanced vision and hearing to get a better understanding of his surroundings.

He focuses on the voices inside the museum. He hears the sounds of breaking glass and hurried footsteps. He watches as the thieves run out of the museum and prepare to load into their van. He is about to jump off the building to confront them when he sees one of the men flying into a wall.

He tilts his head forward in surprise and watches as the other men turn their heads in the opposite direction. They pull out their weapons and get into a defensive stance. One by one, the men take turns taking swings, but each gets knocked off their feet or thrown out of the way.

The dark makes it hard to make out the figure in the shadows, but once he sees who it is, Jisung groans and throws his head back in annoyance. He is no longer just having to deal with petty thieves, but with the one person who gets under his skin more than anyone else. The Black Cat. 

He jumps down and swings towards the action. Once he reaches the ground, he is standing behind the familiar figure in a black, tight suit. "I should've known you were going to be here." Jisung stands behind the woman, whose back is turned towards him. "The cat burglar just can't help herself." 

He doesn't have to see her face to know she rolled her eyes. "I should've known you would show up eventually, considering how you're always in my business." She smirks, turning around so Jisung can see the smug look on her face. She only wears a mask covering her eyes, unlike Jisung's, which covers his entire head, but it still hides her identity. 

"You know, one might start to think you're obsessed with me." Black Cat added, still holding the same smug look on her face that Jisung hates. 

Jisung scoffs and responds almost instantly. "I am not obsessed with you. I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-man it's my job to stop criminals like you." He smirks at the last part feeling proud of himself.

He then sees one of the men, who was just on the ground, charging behind her. Before the man can land a hit, she turns and Roundhouse kicks him through the wall with her super strength. 

Before Jisung can react, Black Cat picks up the bag one of the men dropped, opens it swiftly, and grabs the jewel that was just stolen. She looks up at the masked superhero in front of her and then speaks. "You know, I would love to stick around and chat—actually, no, I wouldn't." She quickly corrects herself, jumps on top of the thieves' van, and then climbs up the wall to the top of the museum, making a quick escape. 

Jisung curses to himself before shooting webs at the criminals lying on the ground so the cops can arrest them once they arrive. He then shoots another web and swings throughout the city to follow Black Cat. 

He follows closely behind as she jumps from building to building with her enhanced strength and agility. The Black Cat turns her head to see him gaining on her and stops abruptly in her tracks, changing her direction. 

Jisung lets go of his current web and swings in the opposite direction to continue following her. "You can't run forever!" He yells out as he gets closer to her. 

The black cat smiles to herself. "You're right, I can't." She then turns around quickly, looking at him and using her nails to claw at the roof of the building to slow herself down. She uses her power to manipulate probability, also known as bad luck, to cause the web Jisung was holding onto to break.

"Oh fuck," Jisung curses to himself as he feels himself begin to fall. He goes to shoot another web to catch himself, but his web shooter gets jammed. He then falls into an alley and right into a dumpster. He pushes the lid that closed when he fell in open, looks up, and sees the black cat looking down from the roof of the building with an annoying grin.

"You should pay more attention to where you're going." She fake pouts, mocking him. "So long, Spider-boy, I've got places to be." She then leaps to the next building, making her escape.

Jisung lays on his back in the dumpster, annoyed and frustrated. "Damn it." He swears and then removes the old banana peel that was resting on top of his shoulder.

As you enter the tall building known as Fisk Tower, the second-largest building in Seoul, you approach the receptionist at the front desk. From the outside, you may think it’s your average corporation owned by a billionaire, which it is, but there is more than meets the eye.

While there are normal civilians who work regular office jobs, the building also serves as a front for criminal activities.

She nods upon seeing you, knowing that you would be stopping by tonight, and walks to the private elevator. You stand next to her as you ride to the very top floor. As the elevator doors opened, the receptionist turned to look at you. “I’ll let him know you’re here.”

After waiting for a few minutes, she leads you from the waiting room on the floor to the office of none other than Kingpin. She opens the door for you and then shuts it behind you as you enter.

“You’re late.” He speaks facing the large glass doors that line the balcony of his huge office. “By a minute.” You say, but he turns his head, and you see he’s reading papers while talking to you.

“Didn’t I say no excuses? What was it this time?” He asks without even looking up at you. “The stupid spider showed up and delayed me a bit.” You answer, and the man scoffs, shaking his head.

You place the pouch containing the crystal on his desk. He only then finally looks up and examines the crystal. “Any problems?”

You shake your head. “No, and no casualties." He nods a little, relieved that he won't have to do extra work to cover anything up.

"They were only petty thieves who were hired to steal other artifacts.” You slide the documents you snatched from their van before they noticed you across his desk.

Kingpin picks them up and looks through them. He only lets out a small hum in response. He examines the papers for a while before finally speaking up once more. "Whoever hired them is clearly an amateur; regardless, I am glad what is rightfully mine is back in my possession."

He sets the papers back down, picks up the crystal, and walks across the room towards the golden spine book, flipping through it. "You're dismissed." He speaks casually, clearly uninterested in keeping the conversation going. 

You look up at him, confused. "Dismissed? Um, what about my payment?" He scoffs at your question, still not looking in your direction. "Payment? What about a payment? You were late." 

"Only by a minute." You refute. He turns back around after setting the crystal next to the book before walking back to his desk. "A few seconds, a minute, or an hour, it doesn't matter. I said not to be late and no excuses, and you gave me both." 

"But Spider-Man." He quickly cuts off your protests, still looking at the papers on his desk. "I do not care if that insect was there; you were given orders."

"You have paid me in the past when I was a few minutes late. What has changed?" You ask almost immediately as he finishes his sentence.

"What changed is that I told you to be here at a certain time, and you were not. I was more lenient in the past, but now you are well aware of how things work here." He cracks his neck before taking a sip of the whiskey in the glass cup on his desk. 

"I do not owe you anything, and if anyone owes anyone something, it is you who is indebted to me." He finally looks up at you. "I gave you your abilities, and therefore you work for me in return. You owe me, and I decide if you get paid or not. Have I made myself clear?"

You stare at him in disbelief, and you know there is nothing you can do. "Crystal." You respond, but your tone lacks the usual sass.

"You are dismissed." He tells you one final time, giving you the evil grin that he does when he knows he has won. You hate it more than anything. You turn to leave, and as you are about to exit his office, he calls out to you, "I have another job for you in the next couple of days, so be prepared. You should be on time since you have learned your lesson this time."

You grit your teeth, and without looking back, you respond, "Understood." You then exit his office, shutting the large doors behind you.

Authors note: Yay the first chapter is finally out!! Sorry it took me a while I have been crazy busy, but I am going to try to be pretty frequent with updates. This story is going to be so much fun and I already have most of it planned out. I hope you guys enjoy!! (Also please ignore any grammar or spelling mistakes lol). See ya next chapter 🙂‍↕️
