One of the things that I love about Parabati in the Shadowhunter books is how it’s one of the only times in books, movies, or TV shows that platonic relationships are treated like they are as strong as romantic one. A persons parabati is just as if not more important to them as their significant other. I also love how they aren’t chosen by fate, but by the partners themselves. They are platonic soulmates that you chose rather then having them chosen for you. I don’t know why but I just love the concept of them so much.

The scenes in The Infernal Devices where everyone at the London Institute gathers for breakfast or dinner are some of the most entertaining moments in the books. With Will's snark, Jessamine's snobbery, Jem's quiet amusement, Henry's obliviousness, and Charlotte's attempts to keep the peace, the dynamics at the table are always engaging. When Tessa joins in and comfortably fits into the chaos, it makes these moments even more delightful.
