I had a dream that someone wrote a me x diavolo fic and my lights and internet connection went off as soon as I read the title 😐

Well, Signore Capo, I'm surprised you haven't been bombarded by thirsty furry fans wanting to know if your dog-ness means you have a certain endowment alongside your ears and tail . . .

I thought that Diavolo was rather caring and forgiving towards Doppio. Almost fatherly, never berating or something like that. And Doppio would regularly use hate speech on himself, he would get angry at Diavolo and shout at him too. So in my opinion his loyalty stems out of Diavolo soothing his nerves and stabilizing his inner struggles.

P.s.: hallucination talk. This above was partially my own experience with Diavolo so I'm obv. biased. I'm sorry if it's too ooc

So, like, I was thinking... on bad days, I have pretty hateful self speach. (I’m fine. This isn’t about me.) The things we say to ourselves in this state is far worse than anything we’d say out loud to other people. (Which is why it’s also not ok to talk to yourself like this, obviously.) Especially if we’re angry at ourselves. I would never call someone a “stupid fucking idiot” but if I disappoint myself enough, I say it to me. That filter of “this could hurt a person” doesn’t exist cuz it’s myself and I’m so angry that in the moment, I think I deserve it. (Which is obviously hurtful and wrong.)

With Diavolo and Doppio being the same person, is this what their dialog is like? If Doppio accidentally fucks up, does Diavolo berate him like one would when upset with themself? Is this why Doppio tries so fucking hard to do a good job for his boss? Is this why it’s his life’s purpose? To help ease his emotional scars that, in a way, he unleashed upon himself? Trying to soothe away the painful scars of failure? Trying to prove his worth when he feels like it’s been lost completely?

I don’t have anything cute or cheery to add here. I just thought of this and was like... fuck!
