“how’s it?” you asked expectantly. processing the flavours of your dish, renjun takes another spoonful. chuckling, he replies, “this is—” *another spoonful* “—amazing.” smiling in content, you think of trying it yourself, but snatching the bowl from your hand, renjun eats another spoonful, “nuh-uh, this is mine.”

“oh, c’mon. let me try it too!” you said, reaching out for the bowl. he hesitantly handed you the bowl, and you ate a spoonful of that absolute mess. “this— how— why did you eat this?” you asked, disgusted with your own cooking.

renjun’s features softened and a sheepish smile spread across his face, “i didn’t want to upset you because you put so much effort into cooking this, sorry,” he apologised.
