As a cleaner I love when cleaners show up in movies and shows because most of them get us exactly right. We can be friendly, angry, nervous or happy but no matter what our usual personality is, there’s always the enormous, deep seeded, undeniable sense of being unimpressed by the people we clean for. We know all your little secrets. We have seen everything. People might not think highly of us but we are walking knee deep in blackmail material at all hours of the day.

One of the most terrifying things I ever heard a college say was “Be nice to the cleaners because they clean both the toilets and your desk and know exactly which cloth they used for which…” I want nothing more than to embroider that and hang it one a wall because it’s the most menacing thing I’ve ever heard.
