What with the franchise having a somewhat unusual crossover between 02 and Frontier for DigiFes, in retrospect it's not surprising people sometimes associate them a lot; they're both known for particularly tight group dynamics compared to others in the wider franchise, and both groups are known to be somewhat chaotic (and, affectionately, "very stupid").

However, the key difference is this: the 02 kids are ultimately well-behaved, heavily deferential to their seniors, and usually only cause trouble from lack of planning or being too airheaded. The Frontier kids, on the other hand, can and will cause trouble and will be very proud of it.

You call the 02 kids when you need more hands on deck for normal business. You call the Frontier kids when you need someone to blow things up and get away with it.

In season 5 both Elmax and Lumax will have a romantic kiss scene separately and the show will end with no confirmed couple. When asked what Max ship is cannon, the duffers shrug and say “idk”

Bonus: months later an extra scene is released of El and Lucas kissing. The fandom goes wild and asks for an explanation. The duffers are never heard from again. The go off the grid.
