“jungkook!” you cry out, clawing at his shirt before throwing your arms around his torso. jungkook catches your weight and holds you against his body securely, looking at your friend standing at your doorstep with his confused doe eyes.

she scratches the back of her head. “she drank vodka like water as if she also got cheated on and they cursed at the guy for hours then turned on the karaoke. she cried along when ah-young cried while singing all i ask by adele.”

“and she hasn’t stopped since?” your boyfriend adjusts the way he’s carrying you, freeing his other arm to stroke your tear stained face. you sniffle loudly and nuzzle against the comfort of his embrace, whining out garbled words he can’t understand.

“yeah. i had to tear her away from sleeping ah-young ‘cause she was so noisy. you know she still has to do her night time routine and all that no matter how drunk she is or else she gets grumpy about it in the morning, so i took her home.”

he nods his head understandingly, giving your friend an apologetic smile. “she must’ve given you a hard time.”

she shakes her head, chuckling lightly. “i’m guessing you’ve never seen her this drunk? goodluck!”

and with that, she walks away to leave the apartment complex and jungkook is left sitting on the couch with a drunk girlfriend crying on his chest.

Namjoon is the one who finds you. He comes barging in two hours later, the strange men long gone by then. You’re asleep, and Jeongguk has tried his very best to keep you warm as you’ve slipped in and out of consciousness. A challenge, considering the fact that he can’t really use his own body heat—he’s too cold.

He’s even pressed his emergency button a bunch of times, knowing full well that it won’t help unless someone’s already at Namjoon’s office. The one thing he could do was to keep you out of the water and use his own body as an insulator, only returning to the water now and then to breathe.

you slowly sit up on the bed, half-open eyes glaring at the cold empty space beside you on the bed. you slip your feet in your fluffy slippers and slightly stumble on the way to the bathroom. you twist the doorknob to find the door open.

“jungkook?” your small voice echoes, only your head peeking through the door. no answer. no rustling. no sign of life. you close your eyes and sigh tiredly, leaning on the doorframe before continuing your search in the living room.

that’s where you find him. the large television screen serves as a dim light that washes over the white walls of your shared home, forming images and shapes that shift into new ones every time you blink.

you should have anticipated this when your boyfriend passed out the moment his body hit the mattress. supposedly, he was to rest for atleast fifteen minutes before hopping in the shower. minutes became hours. you fell asleep cuddling his sleeping figure after finishing a movie on your phone.

now it’s 1:17am and your boyfriend is fucking playing a vr horror game, completely tuned out from the real world. he moved the center table to the side to freely move around in an open space, wearing the vr goggles and holding the touch controllers. he doesn’t even feel your presence when you sit on the single chair beside the couch, watching everything from his left side. your eyes switch between him and the television. you can’t hear the sound effects since he’s also wearing a headset. on the bright side, you’re glad he listened to you about turning the volume down when he plays because the sounds often leak from the speakers. you used to scold him about it all the time.

he makes a startled noise when he looks back and turns out the head of the lady in the portrait moved to his direction, her bulging eyes staring at him accusingly. he quickly recovers and laughs out loud, carrying on with his journey of finding the items required for him to leave the haunted house.

“i think i got myself a crazy boyfriend.” you mutter to yourself, curling yourself up on the chair and leaning your head on the right armrest to maintain the good view of the game. he finds his luck in a dusty yet dainty bedroom, finding four items in a row.

“ah, ah, ah. here we go. i knew there’d be one here.” he closes the jewelry box, making a noise of satisfaction. he turns around to leave, but a stray piece of white cloth dangles infront of him and blocks the path.

“oing?” he reacts in confusion before chuckling in amusement. “oh, this is her room, isn’t it?”
