I know it’s the one you suggested but I LOVE the ‘best friends to lovers confession in a heated argument cliche’ but I’d love it with jungkook (if you don’t mind!!)

“____! where the hell are you going?” jeongguk shouted as you stormed out of the doors of the cinema, doing so after you saw two of jeongguk’s other friends waiting for the both of you by the popcorn stall. he was absolutely surprised when your initial excited attitude morphed into anger once your eyes fell on his close friends, jimin and taehyung, since from what he recalled, you got along with them pretty well.

“just go back, jeongguk.”

“go back? how can i—hey! it’s raining for fuck’s sake, why are you—” he couldn’t even form his sentence right for he was too busy catching up with you who was still striding away from the place, using your arms to shield yourself from the downpour of the harsh rain. it was obvious that you were heading to the bus stop from the path you were taking, only causing jeongguk to walk faster behind you to finally grab your elbow and turn you around. “seriously, god,” he glared at you, the rain now streaming down your heads, “what’s wrong?”

“you’re such a dickhead, you know?” you roughly pulled your arm back, pushing your wet hair away from your eyes. “i can’t believe i even assumed that you understood it clearly when i told you to go on a movie date with me tonight.”

jeongguk continued staring at you. “i literally don’t have any clue on what you’re saying.”

“you never do!” you yelled all of the sudden, agitated and frustrated and humiliated and—and just every bad emotion out there living inside your chest at that moment. “literally. i can fucking scream that i’m in love with you right in your face and you still wouldn’t fucking get it.”

“what?”

“jesus christ,” your eyes were tear-filled now, both from anger and devastation, “i asked you to watch this movie with me as a date, guk. i asked you out myself, even used the term movie and date together—and you still took it platonically.”

he blinked, a new sentiment rising within him. “i… i—how was i supposed to know that this was supposed to be a real date?”

“because i only invited you!”

“so? how the fuck does that explain everything? i’m sorry if i didn’t get the memo that apparently—”

“shut up, don’t you dare finish that sentence.” you were already hearing the sarcasm in his tone that it annoyed you further to let him continue talking.

and jeongguk did shut up, recognizing the genuine hurt in your voice that he can’t bring himself to bring his own perspective across. and for about three seconds, you and him just stood there in the middle of the open parking lot in front of the cinema, still letting the rain wash over your figures, still letting the suffocating tension conquer the air between you two, until he sighed and ultimately pulled you towards him, raising the side of his flannel shirt to cover your head with it.

“don’t—” you weakly pushed him but his hold was strong.

“let’s talk inside. we’re both going to get sick if we stay here long.”

“jeongguk—”

“i love you too, okay?” he confessed and that made you snap your eyes at him, giving in unconsciously, your feet moving mindlessly to where he wanted you two to go as you studied him, jeongguk only staring ahead.

you huffed. “let me guess. you love me as a friend, am i right?”

he didn’t answer. he just led you both to the part of the entrance where they had a roof to prevent the rain from washing your bodies more.

“i’m right, am i?” you insisted, and when you officially stepped on the dry pavement, jeongguk took his flannel off your head and did the most cliché thing on the world.

he kissed you shamelessly and oh so casually, like this wasn’t the first time that he has done it and as if you weren’t just screaming at him earlier. he had a single finger rested sideways on your chin, the way he tilted it up to meet your lips earlier gentle, and his head was slanted to the side for a better angle. when he pulled away, your eyes flickered open, just in time when he pecked it once more.

“you’re hella stupid,” is what he said, snorting, and before you could answer, he took out his phone, checked if it was still functioning, and used it to text a message to jimin and taehyung who were still inside. when he was done typing, he turned back to you nonchalantly who was still frozen and confused. “let’s go back home first to change then i’ll pick you up again for the date.”

you scoffed in disbelief, the pieces forming very slowly in your head. “you really are a dickhead.”

he grinned at that, placing an arm around you while he kissed your wet hair, guiding you now to the parking lot. “i’m your dickhead now.”

you rolled your eyes, your heart nonetheless jumping for joy.
