Chinese diaspora kids are constantly being told that we're too "westernized" to be "a true Chinese" but the Western world throws anti-Asian racism at us every day and fetishizes us and makes it clear that we're not wanted so yeah damn seeing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was so fucking validating because it showed us, the diaspora kids, as regular people who have one foot in both Chinese and western culture and shows that we can be heroes too after being told for our entire lifetime by both communities that we don't belong
