"You don’t live far away from us, do you?” she pressed him. “Are you going home now?”

He was about to say no. Then it occurred. This could be a great opportunity to find out more about Fiona. He could even find out something about Caitlin. So he walked into the trap. Before he could reply, she spoke for them both. “Good. Let’s walk. I spent my dinner money so I can’t catch the trolley. You don’t mind, do you? I walk back lots of times.”

Mack had planned to catch the No. 8 trolley bus. Before he could reply she had bid farewell to her crowd of twittering friends with, “See ya at school tomorrow."

Just because she died it doesn’t mean he’s dead.
