THE STRUGGLE OF LGBTQ REFUGEES IN AFRICA.🏳️‍⚧️🌈

Hello, everyone. My name is Calvin. I’m a 25-year-old transgender queer refugee originally from Uganda, now living in Gorom camp in South Sudan. As you might know, being LGBTQ in our region is not just difficult—it’s dangerous. The ongoing civil war in Sudan, coupled with strong laws and deep-seated prejudices against LGBTQ individuals, makes our lives a daily struggle for survival.

In Gorom camp, I’m not alone in this fight. I stand with more than 300 LGBTQ refugees from various countries—Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, and Ethiopia. Each of us carries a story of hardship and resilience, but our day-to-day reality is filled with constant fear, persecution, and uncertainty. Our shelters are often inadequate, and many days we struggle to find enough food to eat.

We are reaching out to the world not just to share our story, but to ask for your support. We need volunteers, allies, and advocates who can help us meet our daily needs and stand with us in this fight for survival and dignity.

Your Donation could make a world of difference to those of us who have been forgotten by the world. Together, we can create a network of support that ensures no one has to face these challenges alone. Please, if you can, help us in any way you can.

Thank you for listening, and for standing with us.

In solidarity,

support queer refugees 🏳️‍⚧️🌈

There's an EU initiative going on right now that essentially boils down to wanting to force videogame publishers with paid games and/or games with paid elements such as DLC, expansions and microtransactions to leave said games in a playable state after they end support, or in simpler terms, make them stop killing games.

A "playable state" would be something like an offline mode for previously always online titles, or the ability for people to host their own servers where reasonably possible just to name some examples.

I don't think I need to tell anyone that having something you paid for being taken from you is bad, which is a thing that routinely happens with live service and other always online games with a notable recent example being The Crew which is now permanently unplayable.

Any EU citizen is eligible to sign the initiative, but only once and if you mess up that's it. You can find it here. (https://citizens-initiative.europa.eu/initiatives/details/2024/000007_en)

Even if you're not European or you signed it already, you can share this initiative with anyone who is, even if they don't care about videogames specifically because this needs a million signatures and there is different thresholds that need to be met for each EU country for their votes to even count and could also be a precedent for other similar practices like when Sony removed a bunch of Discovery TV content people paid for.

Dear Mutuals And Followers, Sorry For The Politics In Your Dashboard But In Some Homes Today We Cannot

Dear mutuals and followers, sorry for the politics in your dashboard but in some homes today we cannot afford to "ignore the problems".

The country where I come from, Venezuela, has had an election for president that has resulted in fraud. Mr. Nicolás Maduro has proclaimed himself President although the votes have said the opposite. This regime has devastated the lives of its citizens, resorting to violence against those who opposed it. It has brought ruin to a nation once celebrated as a pioneer of Latin American independence, yet many choose to overlook its plight. Venezuela, a country that once extended support to immigrants and provided aid to others, is now dismissed as insignificant by many.

If you are an advocate who values the dignity and needs of individuals, we urge you to raise your voice alongside us. Don't ignore us because we are Latinos, this is also a war. It is a conflict against an individual who has controlled his armed forces, law enforcement, narcotics syndicates, and citizens, rendering any attempts at reform futile despite our vocal protests. I have family members who are unable to depart through legal means, and if they choose to leave unlawfully, they face harsh judgment from people of the outside.
