Part of me wants to ignore his message because I already know exactly what I’m going to see but the part of me that is absolutely whipped for Jeon Jungkook wins out. With a tap of my finger the picture is revealed. Curses fly out of my mouth haphazardly at the sight of my extra large boyfriend looking extra tiny as he pouts at the camera. There was nothing that you loved more than the ocean.  

The smell of sea water, the salty taste, the sand clinging to skin, the warm sun toasting around the edges.  

You loved the call of the birds, swooping up and down the shoreline for scraps of whatever the tourists left.  You loved the sound of the waves crashing against the tall beams supporting the pier.

You loved the sunbathers, the smell of coconut sunscreen, the chiming of bike bells.  The beach was your home, and you loved everything about it.

However, the best part, by far, was Jeon Jungkook.

You loved watching the black-haired boy stroll down the long stretch of sand, clad in either a wetsuit, or just some skin tight board shorts, long surfboard under his arm. 

Sometimes, he would arrive at lunchtime, shoving a burrito into his mouth as he suited up.  Sometimes, he would be there at 6 am, when you arrived to start your shift at the lifeguard station.  Sometimes, he would come right at the edge of evening, sun slowly dying beyond the horizon of the Pacific Ocean. 

Sometimes he came with his friends, Hoseok and Jin.  They would aimlessly roam around on their boards, laughing if one fell and trying to outmaneuver each other, laughter echoing down the expanse of water and sand.

Jeon Jungkook loved the beach as much as you did.  And you worshiped him for it.

There were a lot of things about Jungkook that you didn’t learn until you were official. Like the fact he rarely matches his socks unless they’re cool socks. Or that he prefers his pancakes pre-drizzled with syrup. Not necessarily bad things, just aspects the general public wouldn’t normally see. In fact, the worst “trait” you’ve learned about Jungkook in the past year is how easily distracted he can get. Nothing crazy, just tiny actions, like forgetting to eat for three hours because he refuses to leave his Wii until he can beat the guys in three rounds of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the Mushroom Kingdom stage. Strangely specific, but it’s Jungkook and you’ve long since learned he’s an enigma.

“Typical Tae.” You giggled, acknowledging his reason as to why his car was moderately disgusting. You entered his car, took your seat and accidentally shut the door with too much force, resulting in a mighty thud.
