Um well here are a few facts about the black plague squished in one.
The black plague was not spread by rats! It was actually spread by fleas carried by rats. Back in those times they were very unhygienic, which prevented them from developing a proper immune systems (They only took baths a few times a year! It's why the plague spread so quickly). They also used to believe that smell caused illness so stuffed masks with flowers.
(Can you tell that I'm very into those times? I'm not obsessed but I'm not normal about it)
