a modern AU Shanks’ family dynamics are really fucking funny because he’s the 30 year old man who knows nothing about and has barely met his angsty 15 year old brother and has no idea what to talk to him about except for the son that Shanks has adopted that is also Ace’s little brother and the grandson of their fathers biggest rival (who is actively trying to put him in prison), and oh no one here is actually blood related (except ace and his parents) and Shanks was maybe (definitely) accidentally kidnapped happily as a baby, but that’s is the least confusing aspect of their whole dynamic.

The first time we ever see dude is because he chased a pirate armada all the way across the grand line into the East blue because they woke I’m from a nap! He then went on to accept a challenge from another truly ridiculous man and then decided actually I want him to be the one to defeat and surpass me soooooo actually I’m going to let him live, on little else except vibed and the spirit of “I like the cut of his jib”
