Breathtaking knee length haori (=nagabaori) depicting serene Winter senery of yukimochi tsubaki (snow covered camellia) with a cute suzume (sparrow) flying by, over a rinzu ground of auspicious kikko (hexagons mimicing tortoise shell).

That beautiful pattern could be hinting at kigo/seasonal word hatsu suzume, meaning lit. “first sparrow of the New Year”, which stresses how even the tiniest menial thing looks new and clean and happy as a New Year starts.

(my heart goes doki doki for this haori as it’s one of my favourite motif! It would make a nice companion to my kuroromesode ;) )
