Weekend Part 1
Weekend Part 1
This is Day 2 of Indiana Comic Con for me, and it started kinda rough. Somehow I was out of bed and ready before my husband, which is in itself unusual, but we did have a rougher night last night than usual at the hotel, having to change rooms eventually because of a broken ac that they tried to convince us wasn’t broken, that we were using it wrong. The hallway was cooler than our room and it smelled like the heat was on when we had the thermostat set to 60. Then I went to Game Stop in the mall with my Think Geek points certificate which gets me 25 dollars in stuff, but they only allow that off one item in store. I couldn’t find anything in there I wanted to spend that much on.
Then I finally get on the con floor and start my autographs collecting for the day and go to Caroll Spinney. It was nice but sad to see him. He’s getting up there in age (86) and they were having to gather his attention and replace the pen in his hand at times. He can only print his last name. At one point in his life, he drew beautiful pictures featuring his characters Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch, so it is sad to see him having declined in health so much. He had to wear sunglasses to protect from the light in the convention center. He’s barely able to speak audibly. I didn’t get a picture with him because I didn’t want that sad memory, but it was nice to get his art signed and he creatively signed in the clouds. He’s a wonderfully whimsical guy, even in his declining years.
A guy in front of me in line to meet Caroll Spinney had a copy of Oscar’s Book, a Little Golden Book that my brother and I obsessively read when were little, enough that both covers fell off. I got to see the cover of that book after all these years; felt really nostalgic. I’ll have to text him later about it.
After leaving his line I felt like crying a bit. It’s hard to see people who influenced your childhood decline. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to have seen him, though.

I'd like to thank all the peeps I subscribe to for making this happen. *grips award, smiling. Holds up award* thank you and good night, tumblr. *walks offstage to triumphant music*
I absolutely hate this song and will change the radio station, or skip the song if it's on streaming and tell the streaming service to not play it again.
My reasoning, you ask?
If you accidentally run into your significant other whilst trying to hook up with someone else behind their back and it turns out it was them, that's game over. That doesn't end in smiles and "oh haha, it was you." That ends in screaming and tears, things getting thrown, someone making a scene. That ends in an epic storm out, someone moving out via their shit being thrown in the yard. That ends probably with fisticuffs.
The only way that was not ending in a very bad way was if they were really into role-playing to spice up the marriage and had agreed upon certain code names to print in the paper beforehand. That also would have taken an extremely long time and possibly monetary loss because it used to cost money to put singles ads in the paper, and there was no guarantee they would print them right away, especially if it was an extremely busy week for news.
Cheating on a partner is widely frowned upon, yet everyone loves, and sings along with the Pina Colada song…about cheating on a partner.
It was an absolutely crazy day today. Things at work just going crazy. Then my fiancé calls, he's been in a car accident. Pretty bad one. He refuses a ride in an ambulance because it costs so much to ride in one. Calls my dad to come take him to the ER. His shoulder really hurts. Several hours and several x-rays later, it turns out his collar bone is broken. He got sent home in a sling. He told me to stay at work, which was ok if that's what he wanted, but it doesn't mean I didn't worry about him all night at work and text for updates from my parents the whole time. Tomorrow will be us getting him a rental and filling out paperwork and getting his meds picked up and figuring out how the time off he's definitely going to need will affect his job. Scary stuff all the way around, but I'm super glad he felt comfortable enough to call my parents because they live way closer than his do. I'm also glad the safety features on his vehicle worked like they should have, because it could have been so much worse.
Weekend Part 2
Indiana Comic con looked up after the sadness with the famous muppeteer. I played games with many fantastic people and was able to introduce new people to Redneck Life, one of my favorites to play at the con and on my list of games to own one day.
Another highlight of the con was purchasing more products from Harebrained Designs www.harebraineddesign.com and from Bath Omens.
I love Harebrained for their Period Panties line, made all inclusive size wise, and with an awesome range of creative fandom designs. I bought Daria, She-Ra, and Rick and Morty designs this con, and Supernatural, Star Wars and Harry Potter designs the last time I saw them.
Bath Omens always has the best handmade soaps at the con. I’ve bought their Groot soap at another con and this time I bought Drunken Pumpkin, Pickachu, Crowley&Azraphale, and Mana&Health soaps. I’ll look for them at other cons.
Purchased a ton of new games, and when I got home my Infinite Dreams Gaming Warehouse 13 board game had finally, finally arrived. Can’t wait to try them out!
Went to a KISS concert while in Indy, it was awesome. Huge crowd, 24,000 people! Glad I got to see them once before they quit touring, even if it was from the back of the lawn seats. Was awesome to run into someone from home at the concert, who happened to be in the same section of the lawn but closer to the action.
I heard this song on my friend’s Pandora station and jumped. I was like “hey it’s the song from the Supernatural oven slamming video” *confused looks all around* I pulled it up on YouTube and showed em. Lol My friend squeed. So funny
