Dream was Techno's first friend, when they were both young immortals. Techno pushed him away a lot (literally sometimes, lol) but he kept coming back. So Techno stopped pushing him away.

Techno and Dream are War Buddies, but Techno got tired of war before Dream did, so he retired first.

Whenever involved in conflict, they both make sure to always be on opposing sides. Because it isn't fair to the other side if they're on the same one, there's a 100% chance of losing. And they believed in fighting chances.

They go by "rivals" and not friends, because of nothing but to preserve Techno's ego.

Dream always managed to seek out Techno. It's become somewhat of a game now. Whenever Techno disappears on a new server, within the month Dream has managed to track him down and show up unprompted and not really wanted in his house.

Techno and Dream have friends they're closer too, but they understand each other in a way nobody else does. It's the reason they clicked so easily, it's the reason they always come back to each other, no matter how much time has passed.

Dream is War and Creation. Techno is Peace and Violence.

During Dream's younger days he forgot he was creation. He was just War. He was deadly and fearsome. Techno, being Violence and craving blood to be spilled, joined him. They struck fear into the heart of any mortal, and their names alone were enough so send people running; Dream and The Blade.

Techno was Violence, was the Blade, but he was also Peace. And he had neglected that side of him for far too long. He retired first, retreating to more peaceful servers; spending time with his family, with animals.

Dream stayed longer. He came to Techno's houses more than he would like to admit, bloody and wounded, almost always with someone on his tail. And always Techno would patch him up, take care of the people on his tail. He swore one day he'd let him bleed out. He never did.

But at the end, he remembered how to be Creation. Remembered how to be more than war, to make life instead of claim it. He retired and chose peace, leaving his violent ways behind unless needed.

The SMP was a much needed relief for them both. They had little "wars". Nothing more than minor scuffles, not big enough to ruin relationships, but large enough to make it interesting.
