chaewon shivered as the cold breeze tickled her skin as she stepped out of the van, her arms instinctively wrapping around herself to try to keep warm as her jacket did nothing to keep the cold air at bay. squinting her eyes, she scanned the building in front of her before turning around to watch the rest of the members exit the vehicle.
"why is it so cold?" eunchae whined, scooting closer to sakura, who quickly wrapped the maknae in an embrace to keep the two of them warm.
"oh my god." yunjin breathed out, rubbing her own arms to combat the chill that was clinging to her skin. kazuha quickly followed the american, but when she saw sakura and eunchae, she squeezed herself into sakura's embrace.
chaewon frowned as she watched the still open door, her patience running thin when the last remaining member didn't appear as she expected, her members' constant complaining falling on deaf ears.
"y/n?" chaewon called out, a worried expression on her face, and was about to climb back inside when you finally came out.
when you collided with her, everyone screamed in terror as chaewon's foot slipped off the vehicle. the leader yelped and braced herself for the impact, but instead she felt an arm wrap around her waist and a quick tug. she let out another yelp as she clutched your hoodie, her eyes wide as she looked into your sleepy but worried eyes.
"i'm sorry, unnie. are you okay?" you queried, your voice slightly husky from sleeping on sakura's shoulder the entire trip.
warmth, which she had been missing, quickly filled her body as she tried to calm her racing heart against her ribcage, her grip on you tightening at the same time yours around her waist tightened due to her lack of response. chaewon heard the camera clicks and side-eyed the other members, who were all trying to keep their squeals in check as they took pictures and possibly even videos, then looked up at your barely open eyes, the cold definitely making you drowsier.
chaewon smiled softly, her eyes softening in adoration as she looked at you. "i'm okay, y/n/n. come on, let's go so we can get you to bed, yeah?"
you nodded sleepily and unwrapped your arm from around the form of your leader, causing the shorter girl to frown at the lack of warmth.
she wasn't sure where she got her sudden courage, whether it was because you were sleepy and she was sure you wouldn't notice, or because the cold was making her shiver and desperate for someone's warmth, specifically yours.
chaewon took your hand in hers, intertwining your fingers to feel your familiar warmth spread quickly through her body, and dragged you inside the hotel, giving the members a look that made them quickly hide their phones and push back the squeal that threatened to spill as they ran after the two of you.
you followed the shorter girl mindlessly, your eyelids dropping every now and then but forcing them up whenever you felt chaewon's hand gently squeeze yours. you waited quietly with the girls while your manager spoke to the receptionist, resting your forehead against the back of chaewon's head, causing the older one to drop her conversation with yunjin, who chuckled audibly due to the leader's whipped actions, but the american quickly turned around to join the others because of the hard glare she received.
"y/n." chaewon murmured as she reached behind her with her other free hand to pat your hip, drawing your attention.
you hummed in response. "unnie?"
chaewon chuckled. "you've been sleeping this whole time, y/n-ah. how are you still sleepy right now?"
"tired, unnie~" you whined quietly, tugging on her hand, causing chaewon's chest to swell with adoration.
the leader went quiet and let you lean against her, but her mind was racing with thoughts as she panicked because of you, while simultaneously yelling at her heart to slow down.
soon after, the manager arrived to hand over the keys. "partner up and go to your rooms. rest up, we have a long day tomorrow."
chaewon watched as the others partnered up, yunjin dragging kazuha to the elevator with her and sakura gently leading their maknae right behind them. the leader squeezed your hand, and you returned the action while humming.
"come on, we're roommates tonight." chaewon giggled, raising her hand in the air to show you the key, which jiggled lightly.
"well, that's unfortunate."
chaewon turned to face you, glaring up at you, and you simply grinned at her fuming face, the angry red color rising from her neck up to her face. as she watched the playful glint swim in your drowsy eyes, the other girl could tell you were only joking. besides, she knew that out of everyone in the group, you preferred rooming with her. that doesn't mean her anger issues won't surface.
"i'm just kidding, unnie." you laughed happily.
you had to drag the cute angry leader to the elevator because she didn't want to leave her spot just to stare at you. you were amused inside the elevator as chaewon stood facing you, arms crossed and brow furrowed deeply, her eyes seemingly burning holes into your forehead with how hard she was staring at you.
"yah, you teased her again, didn't you?" yunjin cackled from behind you as eunchae laughed at you.
you stifled a quiet laugh. "of course, i did."
you let out another amused chuckle as her brow twitched slightly, but you caught it because your eyes were on her face, trying to memorize her cute angry features in your head, eyes bouncing all over her face to scan every single small detail.
"don't be too hard on her, y/n-ah." sakura said lightly, catching kazuha's teasing look, which chaewon scrunched her nose at.
because your assigned shared room with chaewon was on the other side of the hall, you stepped out of the elevator and parted ways with the other members. you led the way quietly, feeling your leader's glare on your back, which you ignored for the time being as you reached the room. you opened the door for your leader, and you noticed her eyes soften briefly as she walked past you before her glare returned full force.
you followed her inside, laughing, and placed your belongings next to chaewon's bag. you were quick to return to the bed, which was the only one in the room that you had overlooked. chaewon, nervous, stared at the bed you haphazardly sat on. it was large enough to accommodate both of you, but not so large that your skin would come into contact with each other later on.
"y/n?" chaewon's voice shook lightly as she called out your name, swallowing the lump in her throat as she realized she sounded a little too nervous.
"hm?"
"there's only one bed."
you struggled to open your eyes as you sat up and looked around the room. chaewon stood there watching you, one hand on her other arm, rubbing her skin nervously. you looked at her and noticed her nervously shuffling around, but you ignored it and shrugged.
"we'll share the bed." you shrugged nonchalantly, and chaewon's ears turned red with embarrassment, mentally cursing you out for being so casual about the subject.
the short-haired girl pointed to the couch. "i'll sleep on the couch."
you raised a brow, ignoring the ache in your chest. you had no problem sleeping in the same bed as her and assumed chaewon was fine with sleeping next to you on a bed, but it appears you were mistaken. your brow furrowed in disappointment and sadness as you watched your leader walk to the couch, your lips ajar.
"ah, do you not want to sleep next to me?"
chaewon's neck snapped as she turned her head to look at you, panic setting in as she saw your pinched expression. she went to explain, panickily waving her hands in the air, but you were already on your feet.
"i'll take the couch, unnie." you said weakly, suddenly more tired than before.
"no. yah, yah. yah, y/n-ah."
chaewon followed you as you made your way to the couch, panicking. her panicked incomprehensible explanation, however, fell on deaf ears as you quickly sat down on the couch, unwilling to hear whatever your leader had to say.
"yah, stop." as you turned away from her, chaewon whined lightly and her shoulders sagged in defeat.
as the silence stretched for a few more minutes, you assumed chaewon had left to fix her things or settle down on the bed. during those silent minutes, you were slowly drifting away from consciousness when you felt a weight on top of you and jerked slightly away in shock as a body squeezed in your crossed arms.
"chaewon unnie? what are you doing?" you asked, brows furrowed in confusion.
chaewon shifted around, cursing, and quietly apologized when you hissed in pain from her accidentally crushing your arm beneath her. you leaned back to look at her irritated expression, a familiar pink tint spreading across your cheeks as she reached around your neck and rested her arms on your shoulders.
"i'm going to sleep with you." chaewon grumbled, her gaze flitting down to your lips before returning it to your confused sleepy eyes, clearing her throat in embarrassment.
"the bed is bigger—"
when her eyes became harder, your eyes widened, and the frown that formed on her brow seemed to be permanent due to how hard she was glaring. chaewon never liked making eye contact with you because it made her feel giddy, but she was guilty of making you sad, so she was going to prove something to you.
"i'm. sleeping. with. you." chaewon stated, emphasizing each word to get you to shut up, which you did.
it was your turn to avoid her gaze this time, and you chose to pull her closer to you so you could hide your red face in her short hair. Your heart was racing so fast that you were afraid chaewon would hear it, but chaewon was preoccupied with her own heart racing nonstop for you because of the way you held her so securely and tightly in your arms.
chaewon's fingers played with your hair to distract herself, which you soon found comfort in as she combed your hair with her fingers, sometimes gently scratching your scalp to coax you to sleep. chaewon noticed how your grip on her loosened as you drifted off to sleep, and when it finally did, she drew back to stare at you.
your features were peaceful and content as you slept silently in her embrace, and she reached for your face, fingers gently tracing your soft skin and smiling as she felt the familiar warmth within her again. she sighed and rested her brow against yours, staring at your ajar lips as her fingertips caressed your jaw, tempted to fill the space in between like a puzzle.
chaewon always felt it, the warmth across her chest and the butterflies in her stomach, whenever you were close, when she was with you, when you touched her or did something for her, and just because of you in general.
however, chaewon couldn't do anything about it. she did not act on her emotions. she has been dropping hints ever since she discovered her feelings for you, which she initially thought she would find difficult to accept. but because it was you, who she harbored feelings for, she was quick to accept it.
she remained silent and never expressed her feelings for you aloud. although the other members were aware of it because she was so obvious, everyone, including the staff, was surprised you hadn't picked up on her painfully obvious admiration yet.
chaewon sighed softly and looked at you, her eyes filled with pain. "i like you, you know? my god. i like you so much and you don't even know."
as she finally let go of the words she had been hoping to tell you, the heavy weight on her chest was lifted. unfortunately, it has to be like this while you sleep, but it was somewhat relieving because she didn't have to face rejection.
"you are such an idiot. how come you never noticed my hints?" chaewon grumbled.
the leader waited for a response, but sighed when she realized you were sleeping. she wanted to cry right then and there, but she couldn't let go, so she tried to relax in your embrace.
her gaze bounced all over your face, eyes frequently finding your lips, but she forced her gaze away every time to avoid being tempted to place hers on yours. chaewon could feel the steady rising and falling of your chest as your calm breathing mingled with hers.
your warmth and the promise of safety you unconsciously extended to everyone around you, particularly her, wrapped around her like a protective blanket against the harsh world.
chaewon was brought back to reality as your voice filled the silent room, just as she was about to fall asleep.
"i did."
chaewon's body tensed, and her initial ministrations on your face and hair came to an abrupt halt. she watched as you slowly opened your eyes and met hers with a comforting gaze. your face warmed up as you processed her sudden confession, and your grip on her tightened once more, refusing to let the small girl escape the confrontation.
"i noticed and i know." you murmured.
"you heard all that?" chaewon inquired, tears welling up in her eyes as she braced herself for rejection.
you hummed. "you should really double-check to see if the person you're confessing to is awake, you know?"
chaewon averted her gaze and gulped to calm her racing heart. she remained silent and frozen there, knowing she wouldn't be able to escape the room, especially you, because even if she did, your long arms would simply wrap around her again.
you watched as the leader tried to blink away her tears, but it only caused a few tears to fall down her cheeks, which you wiped away. you didn't like seeing your members cry, and your heart would hurt even more if chaewon shed even a single tear.
"well?" chaewon returned your gaze, her voice trembling as she grasped your wrist.
"well?" you echoed, smiling teasingly. "well, what?"
"well, what?" she replied in annoyance, but the undeniable curl of her lips said otherwise. you watched her smile, your gaze fixed on her lips, and remembered the sensation of her soft touch against the skin beneath your lips.
you chuckled at the memory. "well, if you won't do it, i will."
chaewon looked perplexed at this. your leader stared at you, lost for words, and you could tell there was no single thought behind those innocent eyes, causing you to laugh in delight. you couldn't stand it any longer, so you gently grasped her chin between your thumb and pointer finger and leaned in to take her lower lip between yours.
chaewon flushed red as sparks flew all around her, but her ears blocked out all noise as her senses tried to process the soft caress of your lips. her hands fell to your shoulders and she gripped you, her nails digging into your skin and making you scrunch your nose in pain, but you ignored it.
chaewon finally responded to your small kisses a second later, and her eyes closed, causing previously sad but now happy tears to fall. when you tasted the salt of her happy tears on your lips, you reached for her cheek and wiped them away. your thumb caressed the skin under her eye, and she sighed against your lips.
you chuckled and pulled away, silently watching her as she composed herself. chaewon opened her eyes and saw you staring softly at her, which made her blush. she hid her face as she felt it turning pink, but you pushed her chin up.
"don't hide, unnie." you whispered with a small smile.
chaewon smiled shyly. "you like me, too?"
"i do. i like you."
instead, she hid herself in your embrace, pressing her face into the crook of your neck, and you laughed. for a brief moment, you both fell silent, and chaewon could finally feel and hear your heart beat against your cage whenever her fingertips brushed against your neck. chaewon wrapped her arms around you tighter and relaxed with you, but she did pay attention when you decided to break the comfortable silence.
"i like rooming with you, by the way." you informed her, causing chaewon to chuckle at the way your chest vibrated as you laughed with her.
chaewon pulled away to look at you, her nose scrunched up cutely as she took your face in her hands. "i like sleeping next to you."
you hummed. "do you know where it's more comfortable to sleep together?"
chaewon laughed as you rose from the couch, took her hands in yours, and led her to the bed while wiggling your brows at her. your leader swatted at you, but allowed you to lead her back to the abandoned bed, falling back with her on top of you.
"i can think of someone more comfortable to sleep on." chaewon smiled down at you, her fingers pinching and stretching your cheeks.
you hummed. "yeah? who?"
"you." chaewon replied and leaned down to plant a small kiss on your lips, causing you to smile and reach up to chase her and kiss her chin as she leaned back up.
"you know who i like?"
chaewon giggled giddily. "who?"
"you."

— JEALOUSY AND RINGS: KIM CHAEWON
warnings: swearing, the is chaewon and yn from my wow fic
chaewon stands rigged at the site in front of her.
never has she ever thought that she would see you in the hybe building.
it's like you just love to torment her, ever since that day at the dorm.
but that's not even the worst part.
chaewon would never call herself a jealous person, especially with someone that she has zero relationship with.
but...
why the hell are you talking to kim minji.
she hasn't even debuted yet, why are you talking to her?
how do you even know her ? aren't you like two years older than her ?
chaewon's eyes narrow, she watches as you lean against the wall, you eyes never leaving the girl in front of you.
why do you always look at people like that ?
after watching a shit ton of ive vids, chaewon took in how you always look at yujin like that and it makes the leader extremely flustered.
was chaewon stupid to think that you would only look at her like that ?
what a player
chaewon's fists clenched, as she watches your hand tuck hair behind minji's ear.
before chaewon can even think, her body is way ahead of her, walking towards you and the trainee.
"minji." she says firmly. "shouldn't you be training?"
minji looks at chaewon, and tenses at the firmness in her seniors voice “um yes, i should get back actually." she says backing away. "um, thank for stopping by yn unnie."
chaewon rolls her eyes when you grab the girl's wrist, “l told you to drop the honorific's .
blush rushed to minji's face. "yeah sorry yn." she says then speeds off.
chaewon looks at you and grows flustered immediately when she sees the light smirk on your face.
you run your hands through your hair, still leaning against the wall "and what might you need, miss kim chaewon."
she freezes for a second.
why does this always happen with you ? why do you make her so flustered.
"um." she chuckles awkwardly. "nothing actually, i was just checking in on minji."
you stare at her for a second, your eye's scanning the her body language.
you then grab the girls hand, pulling her towards you.
"you sure about that ?"
chaewon feels like she can't breathe
oh my god
she laughs nervously. "yea, you know rumour has it she's debuting soon so… just want her to get as much practice." she stutters. "you know as her senior."
"oh yeah of course." you say sorta mockingly, like you don't believe her whatsoever.
chaewon looks at your hand that's around hers, she looks at the three rings on your fingers.
you notice the girls gaze on your hands. "you like them ?" she say letting go of her hands.
"yeah, your hands look good." she stuttered. "- i mean the rings on your hands look good, not your hands- not that your hands looks good- i mean-"
your low laugh cuts the girl off.
wow
" i like the one with the star." she says trying to bring attention away from her embarrassing behaviour.
"yeah?"
"yes."
you then slip the ring off your finger, and bring chaewons hand towards you and you slip the ring onto her finger.
"see you around." you say and then you walk off towards the exit.
My heart is so full
that feeling when

baby's breath and lemon candies
word count : 2.1k words
genre : fluff in the season of spring; you were always bitter when spring came, but things changed when she came along; florist!hanni x fem!reader (a year older than hanni); hanni's a confident baby and reader fell for her at first sight but doesn't realize
t/w : none :) just cuteness overload
a/n : hanni just has the sweetest smile that can melt hearts (including mine of course) I wanted to portray that spring vibe and soft colors that are associated with it, hope I succeeded haha enjoy !
spring morning, pastel sky, chilly breeze. it was just like every other morning in this season of cherry blossoms, and that was the exact reason why you despised this time of the year. from the very first thing that greets you as you leave your doorstep, was the couple next door.
it was fine, no one was forbidding them from dating. but it was that they decided to dress tone-on-tone, to add that it was a couple look. (you were just bitter since you were the only one still single among your friend circle)
just as you make it out of your apartment building, you are met with another. at this point, you were sure that god was just making fun of you. (no, you were just bitter and single, so everything seemed to be against you, when in reality, yes you are just hella bitter)
'what a way to start my day,' as you thought to yourself. a cup of americano was exactly what you needed to refresh your day, as if whatever happened before that cup was just a dream. but soon, you do hope that it wasn't just a dream.
getting onto your bicycle, you pedaled away from your usual route, which was headed towards campus. you were on your semester break after almost losing your sanity from the dreadful event named 'finals'. (human physiology took away at least 10 years from your lifespan)
so where were you headed to so early in the morning if you were finally on that break you very much needed? to your beloved senior, chaewon's cafe. she and her girlfriend, minju, finally opened their dream coffee shop after they had graduated. (degree who? and you were so done with chaewon bringing this up whenever she was on the verge of rage quitting during her final year)
it wasn't too long ago so the shop was still relatively new to the area. that meant they neither had customers nor employees. you figured that you could lend a helping hand for the time being as they advertise their new cafe. your neighbourhood wasn't big so everyone knew everyone, therefore things weren't going to be too hard for them. yet, you wonder how you know everyone here, and still failed to notice her around.
as you were on the way there, the owner of blue rain called, pausing the music in your ears from your headphones.
"yes, ms. owner. relax, I'm on my way, no worries that I overslept."
"that's exactly why I called. I have all the right in the world to be worried cause you quite almost drooled all over your pillow while everyone in the hall was racking their brains over the final paper."
you rolled your eyes at her constant reminder of that particular 'incident' in your first year. it was a one time thing but she still brings it up whenever she gets the chance to. and like the mom she is, you're creeped out by how she knew.
"I can see you rolling your eyes at me, child. we all know you were to repeat your subject if I didn't barge into your place."
"alright alright, I made mistakes and learned from them. I'm on my bike right now, okay? continue your nagging when I'm there, bye."
"hey-"
you ended the call before she could even say another word. knowing she was going to give you an earful, all you could do is smile to yourself. the nagging can be annoying at times, but you know chaewon only meant good for you as someone older. it feels great to know that someone cares for you no matter where they are. (you're always a brat towards her, so she would cry happy tears if she knew this is what you thought of her)
making a left turn, you arrived at a road you weren't familiar with, mainly due to the fact that it wasn't the main road you usually ride past. just how did these two find a place over here? it wasn't somewhere people would drive past, not to mention that it was sort of secluded away from foot traffic.
although with that said, there were a handful of shops and a convenience store on the corner lot. this view feels familiar yet foreign, despite it still being part of the neighbourhood you knew. while the scent of flowers invaded your senses, you slowed your speed to a halt and got down, pushing your bicycle with you while admiring the scenery this street offered.
a noodle restaurant came into sight, and a laundromat sat right across it. further in, a tailor shop greeted you with a record shop beside, making you wonder if you really did travel back in time a little from all the shops. everything was so vintage until you reached the part where the cafe was supposedly located. but before that, the florist shop, blooming potion as it read, that was two lots apart caught your eye, which you still didn't know why. (flowers were always associated with spring, hence the same hatred for it)
as you approached, the sign on the glass door read 'open' but no one seemed to be in sight. maybe the owner was in the storage room, hence the unattended empty counter. the door wasn't locked either, perhaps nothing would happen if you invited yourself in, right? (you were just dumb, it's a shop, of course you can enter if it says it's open)
you looked around, finding yourself enjoying the scent of flowers, different from how it was earlier. something felt off but you couldn't put your finger on it, it just did. as your eyes laid upon a bouquet of baby's breath, a door swung open, however it wasn't the door that led to the back room, rather the one you entered from. strange, isn't it.
"I'm so sorry, miss! I didn't expect a customer so I left for some coffee real quick."
you should've known from the way you stepped into this florist shop, from the sudden fondness towards flowers. nothing could've prepared you for this sudden encounter with her. but at that moment, you didn't know.
a young girl, a little too young to be the owner, places her cup of coffee on the counter before rushing to put on her apron. she was slightly shorter than you were, and probably the most beautiful girl you've ever met.
"oh, no worries. I was just taking a look around."
"is it your first time here? I've never seen you before."
she settled down a little, before flashing you that endearing smile of hers. you knew you were a goner when you noticed how your heart swelled at the way her eyes curled up into crescents. but still, you didn't know then, you couldn't have when it didn't come to mind that it was love.
"yeah, I was headed to the cafe down the road but something made me stop by."
the way her eyes sparkle every time you spoke, the glint of curiousness and attention within those orbs. it suddenly felt a little hot for you as the tip of your ears burned up a little (and it didn't go unnoticed by the girl).
"really? then it must have been fate for you to come in! feel free to choose any flower from the store, think of it as a first time gift."
you were an introvert, hence the awkwardness around people you first met. but she made you feel comfortable within this new space. so comfortable, you don't realize you were warming up to this stranger more quickly than you do with other people. (you took a total of 3 months before actually warming up to chaewon)
"oh no no, I can't possibly just get it for free."
"I insist, I left you unattended when it was my job not to, so let me make it up to you. besides, it's just a few flowers."
the attention of hers on you made your palms sweat, not that you didn't like it. you loved it, and again you just don't realize. as well as the fact that the girl don't just look at someone with such endearment.
"well, I guess I can't deny your offer if you insist, thank you."
it was already unusual that this girl seemed too young to be the owner, let alone offering a bouquet of flowers for free. you didn't question further and just accepted her kind act. not gonna lie, your heart might have skipped a beat from the thought that this was the first flower gift you received, regardless of it from a stranger. (later on, you found out that the girl didn't offer flowers to just anyone)
before the girl came bursting through the front door, you were admiring a particular bouquet of baby's breath. you remembered and decided to go with it, figuring it would be a perfect gift for the opening of the cafe. or it could be staged as chaewon's lovely thought for her girlfriend, you just knew she would do that.
"baby's breath? you must have a special someone you love a lot."
you choked a little when you heard that. usually if it came from someone like chaewon, you'd just glare at her and punch her (not literally, your punches are of a baby kitten). but when it came from her, you didn't want her to think you have a lover.
"me? not really. I've been single my entire life, it was flattering to hear that you were offering a free bouquet."
sometimes, you wanted to smack yourself when you try to impress someone with your humor but clearly, not everyone found your jokes funny. but to the girl, you were the funniest person she has ever met. (you didn't notice at that time, the girl had a small smile of victory when she heard that you were single)
"oh, that's unexpected."
"why's that?"
"I mean, you're pretty and funny, I thought you were taken."
chaewon knew you were annoying and dumb, but she didn't know that you were this dumb to not realize that the florist girl was very clearly hitting on you. the older is so glad that this little angel found you cute for being so clueless. (fun fact, minju was this clueless of chaewon's feelings that the older had to kiss her for her to realize. perhaps that was why you clicked so well with minju)
"you know, that's what I should be saying to you."
for the first time, it was the girl's turn to feel slightly flustered, but she maintained her composure. because you looked younger than you were, she thought you were her age or a year younger. which was why, she was slightly bolder than she usually is when someone interests her. (she enjoyed watching you get flustered a little, thinking you were a cute baby then)
"thank you for the flowers, really. I hope to see you around."
you didn't where that ounce of confidence came from but you did say that, and that had the girl stifle a giggle at your attempt. you thought you were smooth, but when you heard about this interaction on another day, it happened while you were avoiding eye contact and stumbling a little over your words. as you finally got to know, you couldn't help but just cover your face with your palms as you drown in embarassment.
"lemon candies? you really don't have to."
"I just happened to have some with me, think of it as me trying to make your day better with some gifts too."
feeling a bit overwhelmed by the flowers, you rummaged through your pockets, pulling out a few lemon candies for the girl. well, that was part of your reasoning, the part that you were mostly interested in her played a very big role. it isn't something extravagant but they were your favourite candies, offering them to someone means they are someone important to you.
the girl brought her palm over the candies before picking it up, placing them in her apron. you swore, that smile of hers that she gives you is so contagious, you find yourself smiling along like an idiot.
"it was a pleasure meeting you too."
"if it's okay, can I get your name?"
"hanni, and I too, look forward to seeing you around."
placing the bouquet carefully into the front basket of your bicycle, you bid farewell to the girl. while you pedaled to the cafe, you couldn't figure if your heart was thumping from it, or the thought of hanni's smile.
hanni, even her name sounds lovely. if lovely and adorable was personified, it would be her. maybe this spring season was finally getting on your good side, because it was making you feel something. what was that feeling again?
that feeling when someone is in love? yeah, that feeling.

polaroid love - hanni pham x fem!reader

synopsis: miscommunication can get out of hand so fast.
requested!

“yah! y/n stop taking those stupid photos of me.” you took another one as she yelled at you and grinned at the film that started to come out of the front.
you shook the film to get it to develop faster and wiggled your eyebrows at the shorter girl, “hey! you can’t call my hobby stupid. that’s like me saying your singing sucks.”
hanni opened her mouth to respond, but she couldn’t find a good argument, “i wasn’t insulting your photos. you’re twisting my words! most of them are actually beautiful, but all of your polaroids of me aren’t. your real film camera photos are amazing.”
you blushed at the praise and continued shaking the film, “in my defense, i think every photo of you is beautiful.” it was her turn to blush, “stop complimenting me. it’s weird.”
you pushed her off the bench you were sitting on and stuck your tongue out at her. she looked at you with a flash of anger in her eyes. you realized your mistake and stood up and started to run away with your camera and bag.
“L/N Y/N! COME BACK HERE! YOU GOT DIRT ON MY PANTS.” she chased after you and you turned around to see where she was. you noticed her about to run into a field of birds to get to you faster.
grabbing your proper camera, you crouched down to capture the moment where the birds all flew up. the scene made hanni look ethereal with a flock of birds around her.
you smiled as you took the picture and looked up from the lens to the feeling of your best friend tackling you into the grass.
—
hanni grabbed your arm and pointed at an ice cream shop. you let yourself get pulled into the parlor. you stared at the different flavors on the menu, there were so many good flavors.
the two of you ordered your ice cream, and you made sure to hand your debit card before hanni could pay. you felt someone tap your shoulder and saw an elderly couple smiling at you.
“sweetheart, you have a rather large grass stain on your jacket. do you know that?” you bowed with respect and nodded, “oh yeah. um, i fell.”
hanni whipped around to see who you were talking to and bowed as well before correcting you, “i sort of tackled her into the grass.” she rubbed the back of her neck and the couple looked at the two of you amused.
“ah, you two remind us of when we were your age. i remember what it was like to be young and free.” the woman’s eyes flickered down to where hanni was holding your hand, “you two stay safe and remember to be kids.” she winked at you and turned to leave the shop.
hanni sat across from you and started to eat her ice cream, “do you want some?” you shook your head with disgust, “ew no. i don’t understand the appeal of mint chocolate but then you had to get a scoop of melon on top of it…”
she kicked your shin under the table, “stop being mean. i just wanted to share.” you rolled your eyes at her lightheartedly, “here you can have some of mine instead.”
you handed her your cup of coffee ice cream and smiled at how excited she looked. it made your heart ache a bit, but she was happy and that made you happy.
—
you laid your head down on the table. you and hanni were sitting shoulder to shoulder. you turned your head towards her and studied her. she wore a serious expression and looked studious with her glasses.
you traced her side profile: the soft angles of her jaw, the bridge of her nose, the way she had a slight pout when she read. you forced yourself to look away because you’d keep staring at her until she noticed.
it hurt to think about hanni for too long. if you were with her it was more of a dull ache that was covered up by whatever you were doing, but if you let yourself get lost in your thoughts and feelings about her felt like a raging fire.
you closed your eyes and rested your forehead on the cool wood again. “y/n?” your head shot up and you hummed in response. “are you okay? i know you’re bored, but are you okay?”
you nodded, “yeah, i’m fine. finish your class.” hanni giggled making you turn towards her, “what?” she shook her head and continued giggling, “you just have a bright red mark on your forehead.”
your eyes widened and you started to rub at your forehead. taking out your camera you started to tinker with settings and decided to take a picture of the bookshelf to your right.
after preoccupying yourself with mundane tasks you turned back to your best friend, “hanni, how much do you have left?” hanni chewed at the end of her pen, “i have another lesson module, but i can finish at the 50% mark. give me ten minutes.”
you sighed, “why do you have to do online school? especially australian online school, you always have weird times to turn things in.” hanni pushed you slightly with her shoulder, “stop complaining. you said you’d be my study buddy.”
—
hanni watched you from your school’s gate as you skipped towards her. you smiled at the vietnamese girl and took a quick photo of her. she was wearing sweatpants, a hoodie, and slides, but you noticed that her hoodie was new.
“new hoodie? you have like twenty hoodies, why do you need more?” hanni grabbed your backpack from you and rolled her eyes, “it’s not new. it’s from my friend minji. i just grabbed something so i could walk you home.”
minji? who was minji? your mind was plagued with hypothetical scenarios of whoever minji was and hanni, but you pushed them to the back of your mind. you felt a paper bag being shoved into your hands.
you cocked and eyebrow at hanni who didn’t respond. inside was a roasted sweet potato, “oh? thank you, hanni pham.” she ignored you, waiting for you to eat it.
“you’re like when my grandma would pick me up from school in elementary. she always had either a rice ball or a sweet potato for me to eat.” hanni stopped in her tracks, “eat it.” you saluted teasingly and started to peel the potato.
the shorter girl was satisfied that you were eating and continued walking. you felt the insecurities about whoever minji was coming back amidst the silence. you blurted out, “who’s minji?” hanni turned her head and slowed down so she was side by side with you instead of in front.
she rested her hands on your backpack that she was wearing like a pregnant stomach, “a friend. she’s really nice, you should meet her. her name is kim minji if that gives you any clues, but i don’t think you know her.”
you scanned your brain for anyone named kim minji, but you came back blank. “no, i don’t know. how did you meet?” hanni looked at you amused, “you have so many questions. i met her at my dance lessons. anymore questions?”
you shook your head and started to imagine a faceless girl. the image you had of her was someone pretty, tall, talented. you sighed to yourself, why were you jealous over a friend? it’s not like you had the guts to tell hanni how you felt anyway.
—
you tapped your fingers on the counter as you waited for the cashier to come back with your developed film and the price for your new film you exchanged.
you grew impatient and decided to scan the shelves for the film you used. you knew you wouldn’t buy anything since the film they seller was always overpriced.
you preferred just to order more online in bulk. you heard someone say excuse me and you turned around. the person was a new cashier clad in the store’s uniform, “excuse me, miss? i’m sorry about my coworker he had to take care of a spill.”
you mind thought about him ruining your film until she continued, “it’s nothing to do with film, i can assure you. here are your pictures along with the film strips.”
your eyes flickered down to her name tag: minji. you looked back up at the girl, she was prettier than most of the actors on tv and had the physique of a dancer. you exchanged the envelope of film for your cash.
as minji handed you your change you asked her a question, “are you kim minji by chance?” her eyes widned, “uh, yes that is me. may i ask why and how you know my name?”
you waved your hands realizing that you sounded like a stalker, “i’m sorry. my friend knows someone named kim minji and you just resemble the description of who she told me about.”
minji nodded slowly, “may i ask which friend?” “hanni pham, er, pham hanni. she said you met at a class.” minji’s cautious demeanor changed into a relaxed one, “oh yeah, hanni. tell her i said hi and that i miss her. have a good day ma’am.”
you bowed your head and walked out. miss her? you bit the urge to run back into the shop and ask her why she missed hanni. so much for wanted to work at the film shop in the summer.
—
the phone rang three times and you sighed into the speaker, “hello, this is pham hanni. hi, it’s hanni pham. send a voice mail. leave a message.” you smiled at the dual language answering message.
“hey han. call me back soon. love you, stupid.” you hung up and stared at your ceiling. in a few minutes you felt your phone vibrating, “hello?” “hey y/n! sorry i didn’t answer your call. i’m at lunch with minji so i didn’t see the call. did you need something?”
you frowned to yourself. you were gonna ask her to hang out, “nah, it’s not important. enjoy your time, bye hanni.” “i’ll call you later, n/n.”
lunch. it was definitely a date. you needed to take a walk or maybe a run. the fire in your chest because of hanni could be replaced by a fire in your chest from running.
you missed your chance with hanni and you couldn’t even blame minji. it’s not like she was being a home wrecker if there was no home in the first place.
—
your chest definitely burned after running for a decent amount of time. you sat next to a bird on a bench.
you stared at the bird who stared back and tilted its head at you. you grabbed your package of sunflower seeds and started to peel the outside off for the bird.
you thanked the convenience store for only have unsalted sunflower seeds. you poured a small handful of seeds onto the bench for the bird.
“eat up, buddy. this is better for you than bread is anyway.” you grabbed the lid of your water bottle and poured some water in it for the bird.
“why aren’t you startled by me? i’m talking to you and everything.” you noticed a little metal band on it’s leg and smiled, “they’re tracking you. it’s like you’re on house arrest. well buddy i guess you’re stuck with me.”
you talked with a bird for awhile and even named it. a few people who passed you looked at you weirdly but ignored you. “it must be nice being a bird. you just fly and enjoy the sky.”
your mind wandered to the thought of hanni running into the field of birds. “we’re you one of the birds that hanni interrupted? i apologize on her behalf.” you sighed and the bird stared at you.
“do birds fall in love? do you have a bird-friend? it must be nice, huh. i’m stuck being in love with my best friend who’s literally on a date right now.” you handed the bird a few more seeds.
“her and minji would be a cute couple though. i’d be happy for her regardless, but it’d still hurt. i wonder if bird’s experience unrequited love. if you have im so sorry.” the bird finished eating and hopped around the bench.
“are you done?” the bird shook out its feathers and you realized it was about to fly off. “bye, bandy.” you watched the bird fly through the sky and decided it was time to walk back home.
—
you woke up to the feeling of something falling on top of you. your eyes opened and you squinted at the weight that was spread across your chest.
“hanni?” you rubbed your eyes and heard a whisper, “hi.” “why are you here? it’s so late.” hanni rolled over you, making you groan, so her body was completely over you.
“i just missed you.” you reached to turn on your bedside light, “and you couldn’t wait to just see me tomorrow?” she shook her head, “no.”
your eyes adjusted to the light and you realized hanni was still wearing her jacket, “yah! han, why are you wearing your outside clothes on my bed? you’re gonna contaminate my bed,” you whisper-yelled
you felt her giggle and get up, “okay, germaphobe.” you heard rustling and felt the weight return, “better?” you hummed and kept your eyes closed.
“y/n?” “yes?” “i’m cold.” you rolled your eyes at your best friend, “then get under the covers? use your common sense.”
the covers were ripped off of you and now hanni was holding onto you like a koala under the covers. you were bright red and hoped she wouldn’t look up. she rested her head on your chest, “why’s your heart beating so fast?”
you lifted your head to look at her, “because you broke into my house and almost send me into cardiac arrest?” you we’re half telling the truth. “fair enough.”
you were wide awake after being rudely awakened, “how was your date? did you finally get your romantic first kiss?” you waited for an answer but only the sound of hanni’s steady breathing and the light sound from the cars outside could be heard.
“han? you’re asleep.” you sighed to yourself and reached to turn the lights off. you’d ask her tomorrow.
—
you woke up to the feeling of someone poking your face, “y/n. y/n. y/n. l/n y/n!” you groaned at the sudden noise, “stop it.” “no. wake up. let’s go to the beach.”
you felt hanni roll off of you as you sat up. “beach? it’s winter.” hanni threw a pillow at you, “so? it’s not like i said let’s go swim. i said let’s go to the beach.”
you laid back down at the feeling of the pillow hitting your chest, “hanni, i know you’re a foreigner and stuff, but you’ve been here long enough to know that the beach is not just an impulsive trip.”
you flung the pillow back in her direction, “it’s at least a two hour train ride. one way. and that’s if you want to go to the tourist beach.”
hanni continued to move around your room, “i know, that’s why i got you up at 7. plus it’s winter. no tourists are going to the beach, it’ll be deserted. cmon, get up.”
you rose again, “it’s deserted for a reason, but fine. you have to tell my mom that we’re going to the beach.” you watched hanni fix her hair in your vanity, “i know. i already did. she gave me some money and told me to keep you in check.”
sighing, you got up and started to get ready. you sat at your kitchen table staring at your best friend. you ate your toast and rubbed your eyes, sleepily.
—
you rested your head on hanni’s shoulder as the movement of the train lulled you to sleep. hanni flicked your forehead, causing you to wake up, “cmon, sleepy head. we have to take the bus to beach and then we can have a picnic.”
you stopped by a convenience store first and picked up some food to eat. you placed the food into your backpack and waited at the bus stop. “hanni, did we have to come all the way here just to have a picnic?”
hanni ignored you and kept her head high as she waited, “stop ignoring me.” she grabbed your hand and pulled you onto the waiting bench. “for some reason you’re always complain-y when you’re sleepy.”
you held onto her arm and rested you head on her shoulder again, “i am not.” “yes you are.” “no.” “yes.” “i’m not.” “you are.” “i’m not.” “you are.”
as you were about to retaliate, the bus pulled up. you paid for your fare and noticed that there was only one free seat left. you motioned for hanni to sit down and you stood in front of her.
you sighed and wished someone would give up their seat, but no one did. you accepted your fate and realized that when the bus braked you’d had to try and not fall over.
the bus reached your stop and you were holding on to the pole as tight as you could. your knuckles were white and you planted your feet. as the bus approached the stop you felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist.
you looked down to see hanni holding you in place. you looked back up and felt your face getting hot. you closed your eyes and tried to focus on not falling over. the bus stopped abruptly but fortunately hanni’s arms kept you from moving.
—
you sat on the blanket and pulled out the bag of food you bought. “egg or tuna?” hanni looked up from her drink and shrugged, “cant we both get half and half?”
you handed her half of the tuna sandwich and watched the calm waves. you thought about the night before and remembered your question.
hanni was chewing but felt you staring at her. she turned red at the attention and looked away, “why are you staring at me?”
you shrugged and took out your camera to capture her. “you have mayonnaise on your face by the way.” she smacked you since you took a picture of her before pointing it out.
you put your camera down and looked at the flock of seagulls. “by the way, how was your date? did you kiss her?” hanni started choking on her sandwich.
your eyes widened, you started to pay her back, and offered her the water bottle. after she stopped choking and got her breathing under control she looked at you bewildered.
“kiss? you realize i just got lunch with minji, right?” you nodded slowly, “yeah obviously. you went on a date. so did you?”
hanni turned to face you properly, “y/n. i went out with minji.” “yes, and you like her.” hanni’s eyebrows furrowed, “what? no i don’t. where did you get that idea from?”
you scratched your head, “you’re always with her, you talk about her a lot, she said she missed you one time, she’s talented, she’s tall, she’s pretty, do i need to go on?”
the australian stared at you, “i don’t like her. i was having lunch with minji because i needed advice.” you blinked at her and she continued, “i needed advice about you.”
“me? why?” hanni sighed and looked down. you followed her line of sight and saw her picking at her fingers, “god, i’m going to have to spell it out for you aren’t i?”
you threw your bottle cap at her hands to get her to stop picking, “spell what?” “y/n. all the reasons you gave me as to why you thought i liked minji… who else could those apply to?”
you shrugged, “i don’t know? you don’t really hang out with anyone else. occasionally you hang out with that one australian girl i introduced you to, but she’s always busy.”
hanni sighed, “i like you, not minji.” you didn’t comprehend the sentence and started to laugh, “me? okay funny prank hanni. you couldve pulled this back home.”
“it’s not a joke y/n. i’ve liked you since i met you when i was 13. you showed up and handed me a bag of chips when i knew almost no korean. i remember how you learned english just so you could talk to me because you thought host families should as similar to my home family as you could be,” she took a deep breath.
“i liked you throughout your braces treatment. i liked you when i moved out. i like you now. i like you even when you take the most unflattering photos of me. y/n, i like you.”
you stared at her for a second, “you’re sure?” “oh my god.” “i like you too. i’ve liked you for years. i just don’t believe you. this is 100% not a prank right?”
hanni grabbed your face, “does this seem like a prank?” you turned red as soon as hanni leaned closer to you, “a little?” hanni rolled her eyes and leaned to kiss you.
before she could she asked you something, “can i kiss you?” you mumbled a yes and she kissed you. you could feel her smile into the kiss.
you pulled apart and hanni still had a wide grin, “you just walked the prank.” you threw your sunflower seeds at her and quickly leaned until you were centimeters away from her face.
you noticed how panicked and red she got, “you’re blushing so it isn’t a prank.” she let out a huff and noticed a bird pecking at the sunflower seeds you threw at her.
“BANDY! did you follow me?” hanni looked at you concerned, “why do you know a bird?” you squinted at the metal ring on the birds leg and how it ate the seeds, it was definitely the bird from yesterday.
“yesterday i went on a run and met bandy. it’s not afraid of me.” you waved your hands around the bird and it looked back at you with the same tilt of its head. “see?”
“so youre telling me my girlfriend talks to birds in her free time? what am i signing up for?” you looked up from the bird, “girlfriend?” “i kissed you and just basically confessed me undying love for you.”
you threw more sunflower seeds at her, “you’re annoying.” “maybe but then i’d be your annoying.” you looked at hanni with disgust, “ew stop. just because we’re together doesn’t mean you get to be all corny.”
hanni threw a piece of her crust at you and the bird seemed very happy at the food fight that was going on. you took out your polaroid camera out and took a picture of hanni.
“hey! i wasn’t even ready.” you grabbed the ejected film and shook it, “that’s the point of the polaroid. my film camera is for my professional photos. my polaroid is for my fun pictures. i’ll label this one with todays date. our anniversary.”
hanni’s angry face dissipated into a soft smile, “you’re cheesy. are you gonna take a picture on our 100 day anniversary and every milestone after?” you shrugged, “let’s make it to one day and we’ll discuss that.”
you’d make it to one day or three thousand if it meant you could be happy with hanni (and bandy). “does this mean we have a child?” “shut up han.” “i’m just saying. also bandy is a terrible name.”
