“Let me help you.”

The words don’t quite make sense to Zam. He hears them but cannot comprehend them, his mind still so tired from everything that happened. He feels like he died. Maybe he’s just hallucinating again. Hoping for another life, maybe he’s dying in the snow right now, life draining away in the cold, and just dreaming of the only person that could bring him comfort in front of him.

“Okay,” he answers mechanically. He never had a say in anything anyway.

He doesn’t react much when Subz takes away his mantle, so full of holes and soaked in blood it might not be salvageable. He does feel better though. He didn’t realize how hot the environment had gotten around him with all this lava before, but he still feels chilled to his core.

“You coming?” Subz’s voice tears him away from spacing out. Zam didn’t realize he was looking at his hands until he snapped back into reality. They still feel cold.
