My New Collection (+ abortion fundraiser)!
hey what's up! i know i haven't been super active on this blog (although hopefully with this big project ending i'll be able to have a little more freedom to post), but i have a super important announcement to make! i just released a digital poetry collection on Gumroad!

this is a rewrite of Writing My Obituary, which some of you might remember was my first collection. while i'm proud of it in theory, almost all the work in that book is from a time in my life that i think about very differently these days, and i wrote most of it when i was really young. when the publishing press i worked with decided to close their doors, i took it as an opportunity to take that work back into my own hands and make it into something i'm proud of again.
that being said, Roe V. Wade was just overturned in the United States, which not only puts abortion at the complete will of each individual state, but it also puts other forms of reproductive health in jeopardy.
my mom has two kids, me and my younger sister, but this essentially destroyed her body and no form of birth control seemed to be working for her. she was on birth control before both of her pregnancies and it seemed to be not only ineffective, but causing pretty severe side affects on her autoimmune disease.
it was Planned Parenthood who provided her with that birth control, and it was Planned Parenthood that fought her health insurance to allow my mom to get a hysterectomy so she didn't have to take that birth control anymore. it was also Planned Parenthood who saved my aunt's life twice, ten years apart, when she suffered two different ectopic pregnancies and had to have both fetuses aborted, despite wanting kids more than anything in the world.
Planned Parenthood does a lot for people, especially people in low income situations like my mom was in, and they're at risk of losing large amounts of funding if their services become even more taboo than they already are.
with all that in mind, Gumroad allows you to set a minimum price, but for the customer to pay more. i set a minimum of $5, but decided that anything paid over $5 will be donated to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
if you're interested, i hope you'll consider checking it out. the first 30 people to use the code ACTION will get 30%, and then anything over $3.50 will be donated.
thank you so much, and please try to stay safe if you're attending protests, as police have already gotten violent in several scenarios. the link to the collection is here.

[text ID: But I’ll live my life if it kills me]
we've had hot girl summer. now it's time for deranged girl autumn. meet me in the woods behind goody proctor's house.
“how’s drafting going, kiki?”
