does anyone else sometimes go absolutely fucking feral after listening to/reading/watching something REALLY GOOD and you are consumed with THE NEED TO CREATE that is so powerful you will crush anyone in your way in order to get to your tablet and DRAW THAT
Too late
if ur not careful ur life will be ruined by a white haired anime boy
How do you deal with/resolve the conflict of your main pairing being in a relationship that is improper, like a doctor-patient relationship for instance? If they're initially hesitant to be together because of that, how would they resolve it? Thank you for this blog btw, I love it so much, big fan
Writing pairings that create inherent conflict...
I’d like to make a disclaimer: I, as a writer, believe that it is important that all artists have a responsibility to understand the influence they have and to wield it carefully. While I do not condone passing judgement on others based on their preferences and interests. I am strongly opposed to glamorizing or romanticizing relationships with imposed imbalances of power, or that physically/mentally harm one or all parties. Things like relationships between a student and a teacher, a boss and employee, etc. All writing advice I am about to give regards fictional scenarios.
When you’re writing about a pair that are in a difficult circumstance, it’s important that you know where they’re going to end up in the end, and be very sure that by the time they reach that end point, you’ve resolved the actual conflict, rather than swept it under the rug for the purpose of getting there with less resistance.
For example, if you were writing a teacher/student pairing, you would want the plot to explore how they balance the power in their relationship, navigate the dynamic as it changes and they both grow, etc, rather than making it about how they manipulate their situation to avoid consequences of their relationship. I’m assuming based on your wording that you are writing a story where the relationship should be supported by the reader, and therefore you want to make it worth rooting for, rather than trying to romanticize the harmful aspects of a dynamic that is forbidden for good reason.
The thing about improper pairings is that the aspect of “what’s meant to be, will be” in fiction is typically over-looked. In your story, distance can be a solution to that aspect of your conflict without ruining the heat in the romance. Instant gratification in romance is usual, but pining, waiting, and the promise of an eventual reunion can be more satisfying in a lot of cases. It’s really about what you want the message to be, what stakes and resolutions you find interesting, and how you can tailor the resolution to your characters.
There are a lot of writers who will write a romance which unintentionally glamorizes and forgives toxic circumstances and actions between two characters, and then when faced with backlash for being careless with their influence, will cry “it’s fiction! don’t take it so seriously”.
Feel free to disagree, but whether anyone likes it or not, writers have influence, their stories change people’s thinking, and it’s our responsibility to make sure that influence strengthens the reader, rather than reinforcing an unhealthy outlooks on what is and isn’t healthy between people who love each other. If it’s gonna be a happy ending for the love birds, make sure it’s earned, and a positive example. Don’t take the easy way out and cry ‘fiction’. Yes, fiction is a place to explore ideas, scenarios, and fantasies of any kind and you can do whatever you want with your imagination, but the moment you share it, the consequences are on you. We don’t get to tout writing as an act of impact, just to turn around and refuse to take accountability for that impact.

Things I wished I knew before writing a novel
Stories are my favorite thing in the world, in any of their forms. And now that I have a finished novel in my hands, I can finally say what it's been like.
1 - If you can't write something, it's usually because you can't visualize it. Get up and act it if necessary, or daydream about it.
2- You'll need to set deadlines, and be able to respect them but also adjust them in order to do everything the best you can.
3- Your english is actually good! (English is my 3rd language and I learnt it online :) )
4- Organization is everything.
5- You'll have to pay attention to every big thing, and especially to every little thing.
6- Forgive imperfection, but require progress.
7- If the writing feels odd, it HAS to be rewritten. You're not mysterious, you're confusing.
8- Finding your voice will make everything faster to write and better to read.
9- Prepare printing paper, ink, and tissues.
10- Take your time and never rush a scene. If you need more time, make it.
