Day 9,996 of wishing Almalexia got treated better.

For as much as a wild, raging b*tch the general fandom makes her out to be, we have crumbs of lore where we get to see her truly shine as the Sacred Lady and Merciful Mother of her people. We are given textual duality but virtually none of it in actual presentation. When she showed up in the Mournhold storyline for ESO, she’s still largely made out to be quite mean and somewhat insufferable. Don’t get me wrong, dealing with a sudden flux of Daedra-conjuring Worm Cult-adjacent folks would put ANYONE in a foul mood, but that’s to say that it’s sad how the complexities of her lore get ignored in order to make her a more one-dimensional villain.

On the one hand, one could say that maybe her benevolent qualities are fluffed up by Tribunal propaganda, but to a point that’s a tired and boring way to explain how much she’s sidelined compared to the other two. It’s too easy to brush off any traces of interesting and good lore are complete fabrication and propaganda (especially when nobody does the same for the whimsical and strange bits of Vivec and Sotha Sil lore; they’re allowed to have duality but for some reason any support or goodness attributed to Ayem is usually brushed off by the general fandom).

That’s all to say that I hope that if ESO puts the Three back into the storyline some more, I hope we get more positive light shining on Almalexia. The was the most outwardly present of the Three and the most approachable of them, doing most of the Three’s work in actually running the place while Vivec was doing Warrior Poet quests and Sotha Sil was casually constructing a whole other world.

Like yes, I want to see Ayem throw down and kick some ass like it’s 2920 Mournhold Thunderdome 2.0, but I also want to see how she dreams with all her wild visions again, how she was genuinely shook for the people of Gilvardale after Molag Bal took over the whole town (yes, we got the ESO quest for that part of the map; I wish we could like talk to her about it, you know? Have the irony of her more humanized by the empathy. I mean shit, when Mournhold crumbled in 2920, she was so devastated that even Sil was taken aback and the memory of that was sealed into the Mnemonic Planisphere but I’m digressing again—).

Where is our elegant queen who sips cups of tea by the fire in a moment of chill? Where is our silly queen communing with Vehk during his bath time because there are Urgent Matters Ahead and We Gotta Go NOW? Where is our lovely lady who hugs the homies after long travels to Artaeum and wherever else? (srsly, that hug breaks me every time reading that got dang chapter of 2920.)

I’m saying Morrowind lore (and it’s smattering of expansions) contains so much whimsical stuff and dynamic content for ALMSIVI and I want to see the devs make more use of it but especially for Ayem.
