- to start off with, riley did not do the stab and wow suddenly they're a normal team djdjdjsj

- yes! exactly like you said, they have a mentor/mentee relationship

- cairo takes the shit out of riley about it ("how are you so anxious all the time and all together a shit influence, but somehow guiding this Tiny Gullible Child")

- they don't really interact outside of cheer things but they smile at each other in the corridors and mattie's friends think she's so cool for having a friend who's a senior

- riley has a lot of doubt that she's a Good Mentor but is often reassured by sunshine child mattie

- so they do they split the brownie in half and eat it in secret before the rest of the team turns up and complains that they didn't get any

- "hey mattie?"

"you know how you wanted to be captain when you first joined the team?"

"yea, and i was wondering, would you be interested in co-captaining with cairo? obviously you're too young to technically be captain and i kind of promised cairo that she'd be captain but i think you'd work really well together and you deserve it because you're so dedicated and-"

- riley stepped down because after a very long and very serious conversation with cairo, she realised that being captain was really not healthy for her

- and mattie was really doing so very well at everything

- so co-captain mattie became a thing and riley took up athletics (she's excellent at javelin)
