Alright, let’s do it!! Haven’t written anything for these two in a little while, so this should be fun!

“What’s it like?”

Emma takes a chug from her chocolate milk, “What’s what like, Kaylee?”

The brunette fiddles with a keychain on her backpack, not making eye contact.

“You know, what’s it like, with you and Alyssa, the way you two are?”

The gears in Emma’s brain must be turning way too slowly because she can’t seem to pick up on what Kaylee is trying to ask. Lucky for her, she has a very smart girlfriend who’s much better at reading signals.

“Are you asking what it’s like for two girls to be together, Kaylee?”

Kaylee nods, her cheeks a little red from embarrassment.

Emma smiles sweetly at her old friend, starting to understand Kaylee’s hesitancy with asking.

Her girlfriend however, jumps on answering immediately.

“We’re you thinking of anything in particular? Like dates, just hanging out, or how we do-“

Emma clamps a hand over Alyssa’s mouth, catching the end of the other girl’s sentence in her palm.

“Nope! We’re not talking about that.”

Alyssa shoots her a playful side glare, a mischievous glint in her eye. Emma just has time to narrow her eyes suspiciously at the dark haired girl before she feels something rough and slimy scrape against her hand.

The blonde squeals yanking her hand away as Alyssa cackles. She wipes her girlfriend’s saliva onto her jeans, much to the amusement of the rest of their lunch table. She glances back at Kaylee and finds the shorter girl’s face to be even brighter red than before.

The cheerleader stutters for a moment before regaining her words.

“To be clear, I wasn’t asking about that, Alyssa.” Alyssa giggles, her own cheeks a little flushed, and Emma jabs her girlfriend in the ribs with an elbow.

“I was just asking about how things are between you in general. Like,” she makes a few odd gestures with her hands, struggling to articulate.

“I don’t know.” She sighs.

Shelby places a hand on her best friend’s shoulder with a sympathetic smile.

“Take your time Kay.”

Kaylee swats the hand away, her glare playful.

“Oh shut up,” she turns back to Emma, “you get what I mean, right?”

Emma nods slowly, thinking.

“I do, and I think the best answer to your question is that, we’re not much different from any other couple, but also completely different because no two relationships are exactly the same, you know?”

Kaylee tilts her head, looking confused.

“What Emma means,” Alyssa starts, “is that every relationship is different, because people are different, but it’s not just because we’re gay. Our relationship isn’t the same is Kevin and Shelby’s, but we’re not like Kayden and Jess either, we’re just us.”

Kaylee nods, looking satisfied, and goes back to eating. Emma and Alyssa share a soft smile as conversation starts flowing as normal once again.
