honest to god i don't think even fans of this guy talk about these pages NEARLY enough and how many implications are packed into them

now, i already consider this panel to be the Thesis Statement of his character IRT the first part here, but like, i will never get over how INSANE it is in general. the only sort of personal request, the only SELFISH REQUEST that he's ever made is asking his SERVANTS for HELP TO SAVE A GIRL HE LOVES??? there's no way that they don't have to listen to what he says, he straight up could've gone back to the inn and have ordered them to help as its an emergency but he GETS DOWN ON HIS KNEES AND BEGS THEM TO HELP HIM???? the most selfish thing he's ever asked for isn't even something selfish at all, not even for himself but for someone else's sake? does he just never ask them for anything ever??? absolutely insane set of pages. where am i. can anyone hear me

umm they were sparring. i really dont have an excuse. i was thinking it was either a heat of the moment thing or toshiro was genuinely teasing him (in a scenario where he knows laios likes him and is himself slowwwly coming around to it)
