Crackpot Theories: Game of Thrones, Season 7
The Wall Comes Down. The Dead Come With It.
- Edd has the unfortunate task of telling Jon that it was in fact knocked down on his watch. - Bran crossing the Wall weakens the magic holding it together. - Bran spends some time plugged into Weirwood Net by the Wall. He sees the Tourney at Harenhall. He sees Lyanna and Rhaegar run off together. He sees Ned bringing Lyanna’s son home and calling him Jon. He may also learn about the Prince that was Promised prophecy. Bran and audience now fool-proof know that R+L=J. - Jon still knows nothing. - Jon prepares the North (and the Vale) for the Long Night. The Wildlings are given the Dreadfort to help them establish a stronghold, and protect their more vulnerable people. Tormund dislikes being made into a fancy lord. - Littlefinger tries to undermine Jon using Robin Arryn and Sansa Stark. (Led by) Sansa, Davos and Royce working together, Littlefinger is exposed for his crimes against the Stark and Arryn families. He is executed in the courtyard of Winterfell. - Robin Arryn dies, a last victim of Littlefingers machinations. A crisis of inheritance allies the Vale and the North even closer together. - Sansa and Jon work well together, but Sansa once again fails to tell Jon about plots involving Littlefinger. It becomes clear that, while Sansa finally feels that she can trust him, Jon no longer trusts her. This is exacerbated when… - Howland Reed arrives at Winterfell. Sansa convinces him to not reveal the truth of Jon’s birth, protecting Jon’s status as King in the North. - Jon gets more than one marriage proposal.
Meanwhile, in the Riverlands:
- Arya frees Edmure Tully from the Frey dungeons. It becomes clear that Edmure doesn’t have the strength to bring order to the Riverlands. Arya has no patience for this; no one has time to assert Edmure’s claim for him. - The Freys fight amongst themselves for the position at head of house. In-fighting decimates their ranks. - Arya meets up with the Brotherhood. Melisandre meets up with the Brotherhood. Brienne and Podrick meet up with the Brotherhood. Everyone learns about the King in the North, and the war to come is discussed. Brienne and the Brotherhood head North. - Arya and the Hound hug it out. She asks him to protect her brother. (Brienne and the Hound do not hug it out.) - Arya and Melisandre head South to King’s Landing.
Meanwhile, in King’s Landing:
- The city is paralyzed by fear. Lannister troops are necessary to maintain the peace, but they are besieged by troops from Dorne and the Reach. - Euron comes with an offer of marriage and 1000 ships to protect the city. Cersei agrees to the arrangement to deal with the Dragon Queen, a threat she is consumed by. - Cersei has Euron killed as they jockey for power, believing she can just take control of his fleet. It doesn’t work. The Greyjoy fleet puts up a disorganized resistance to the Targaryen forces, and King’s Landing falls with relative ease. - Cersei orders the use of wildfire one last time. Danaerys reclaims a shell of a city. - Jaime, realizing Cersei to be completely beyond the pale, struggles to protect the people. Her marriage to Euron - and her assassination of him - further highlight her madness and her true love of power beyond all else. Jaime orders the Lannister troops to abandon the city and return to Casterly Rock to protect what remains of House Lannister. - Jaime kills Cersei, and disavows himself of his House. - Arya, having killed Qyburn and the Mountain, offers him a chance of redemption - and to pay his debt to House Stark. They ride North to Winterfell, but not without seeing dragons flying above King’s Landing. (Bronn stays behind to be reunited with Tyrion.)
Finally, from Mereen:
- Daenerys lands in Westeros to find a land in chaos, destroyed by the poor leadership of Robert, Joffrey, Tommen and Cersei. - That Cersei and her cohorts are dead disappoints her Tyrell and Martell allies. (Tyrion and Varys realize that Jaime is the one who killed the Mad Queen.) Permission is given for the sacking of the Westerlands by their forces and the Greyjoys. - The Red Woman is discovered, having used her magic to help protect some of the children of the city. She speaks to Daenerys about the threat of the Others - and more importantly of the King of the North. - Most of the Targaryen allies are pleased to hear about the resurgence of House Stark, which surprises the Dragon Queen. - Daenerys, her dragons and a retinue of advisors head north to Winterfell. They arrive just in time to learn of the Wall falling. A political match is agreed to.
Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen marry to unite the realm and preserve the world of men. Ironically, this is the first time two members of House Targaryen have married by accident.

Game of Thrones’s Tormund Giantsbane shaves his beard.
Norwegian film actor Kristofer Hivju, who portrays Tormund Giantsbane on the TV show “Game of Thrones”, announces it’s time to shave off his beard. After sporting this signature look for years, the results of the shave are a little unexpected.
