It started with a phone call.

"Gojo.....They're gone."

"Huh? Whaddya mean they're gone?"

Rolling his aquamarine eyes, gojo hummed a cheery tune, staring at the picture of you framed on his mantle, savouring the feeling of butterflies, hearing your laugh as your e/c eyes stared back at him through the photo.

"I mean they're gone."

"Like, gone to the bathroom?"

A sigh could be heard on the other end of the line, and gojo reached forward to wipe the trace of dust away from the photo of your face, and he lounged in his chair free of worry.

"No, you dumb fucker-"

silence passed.

"Y/N L/N is dead."

dead.

that was too big of a word to shove into his still mind.

this was a dream, right?

right?

the phone fell with a large clatter onto the pristine floor, and with the clatter, came his heart.

the phone landed right on his foot, causing a hell load of pain.

he felt the pain, he felt the agony reaching up into his organs, tearing him out from the inside.....

it was real.

seconds slowly ticked by, blended together like his thoughts, like his memories, like everything because it can't be true it can't!

you were everything, everything to him, worth more than his riches, more than his power, more than his name itself, you were his other half, you were the only thing he could call his.

dead.

Memories began flashing in his mind, in his messed up, fucked up, mind that only you understood.

your laughing, smiling face, that held so many memories, scratched out and replaced with a blank face, because did he say 'i love you' before you left?

did you know he loved you?

syrupy sweet, like the alcohol that was scarring his throat, his mind, but the fog that clouded his mind made it worth it, because....

you were gone.

and all that was left, were echoes of you, yells of i love you, photos of you scattered around the house, your shoes, your coat-

in his aquamarine eyes, you gazed at him with a smile, each little i love you causing clear, bitter tears to pool in his eyes and slowly drip out.

all that was left, were memories.

He didn't say i love you when you left.

He was mad, you got into a fight, he didn't say i love you.

instead, he said the very things that might've gotten you killed.

'i hate you.'

it was his fault, it was his voice that said that you were gone.

you weren't coming back, you couldn't come back.

he remembered his promise with you, sealed with promise rings, sealed with real, innocent love, but the promise was broken.

just like him.

why did he say i hate you?

you were gone now, and he couldn't tell you how much he loved you, how much he felt for you, why he loved you, everything.

you were his and he was yours and you were gone.

Now that you were gone, doubts, and feelings began rushing through his empty head.

who would hold his hand, his heart, him when he was down?

who would love him for who he was without you?

'Maybe you would've been happier with someone else.'

Maybe if you hadn't fallen in love with him, you would still be here, laughing, smiling-

maybe if he had never met you, you would be happy.

not with him, but with someone else who would give you the love he couldn't give you, someone who could've given you the future he couldn't....

You were in the sky now.

He closed his eyes and made another promise, this time, from the heart, from the head, and he swore this time he wouldn't break it because you were the only love he would ever have.

He sat in the shadow of the tree, blankly staring at your grave, the wind the only sound in the wind.

Your favourite flowers, in your favourite colours, contrasted against the dull grey of the tombstone, and he wondered if you were watching him.

he wondered if you blamed him.

because he did.

tears gathered up in his deep blue eyes, everything negative, every worry, every sorrow, every regret, every unsaid i love you falling out of his eyes in deep, pure, heart-consuming, tears.

with each tear, with each regret, with each unsaid words, he whispered out everything he felt for you, everything he loved about you, why he loved you, whispering each word, praying to something, praying to anything that you were hearing each word, each emotion-

and when he closed his eyes, he shed a last tear, whispering one last sentence.

"wait for me, wherever you are." 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐎 𝐍𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐈 ✩

One shot, two shots, three shots.

Clear, smooth, but clouded his brain, forced his mind to shut up, forced himself to feel happiness.

it wasn't working.

Pictures of you, framed on the mantle, framed in empty spaces, filled the room, mid-laugh, mid-smile, mid-pout-

you were there all around him..

your comforting scent of your perfume/cologne/etc. seemed to surround him like a hug, your clothes were lazily thrown over a couch remaining untouched, and-

your wedding ring hanging on his new necklace.

your wedding ring, the one thing that was salvaged from your body, along with the whispered words of-

"i'm sorry."

four shots.

five shots.

each small glass of the 'wonder juice' slowly cleared his mind, leaving behind blank words, and he slowly emptied the bottle of vodka.

swallowing down the memories, swallowing down your laugh, your smile, everything that caused him to turn into this-

because you were gone.

He couldn't hear your laugh, see your smile, feel your gentle touch, he couldn't grasp that you were really gone.

swallowing the vodka was easier than swallowing the fact that you were gone.
