my story for miss pauling in this au is that she is a human frozen in ice by the administrator thousands and thousands of years ago. the admin's knew their time wasnt the ideal place for an ice elemental like herself, so she froze pauling and herself in impenetrable ice. she unfreezes shortly before the events of the elements miniseries, but the admin doesnt unfreeze. in fact, her ice dome is still perfectly preserved. with no sense of direction, pauling immediately starts searching for a way to unfreeze admin. merasmus makes a deal with her, giving her the magic man hat. she tries everything, but nothing works. she recognizes the ice king as dell, and figures he can help in some way. however, all he does is frustrate her more and further her descent into magic, madness, and sadness. with the help of merasmus and her research, she finds the only way to unfreeze the admin is to tap into her elemental energy. it backfires, and ooo is turned into an elemental disaster, as in the elementals miniseries. through the enchiridion, she finds a way to reverse the elemental effects, but also a way to open a portal back in time and restore both her boss the admin, and her old friend dell. this, of course, also backfires. she finds a home on mars, where merasmus is king and she works on recovery. this doesn't last long, and she strikes yet another deal with merasmus, unfolding the events of the gum war.
