Chapter 1 (of ?)

“Sonovabitch!” Mere cursed as she tripped over shoes.

“You alright?” her step-brother’s voice called from the downstairs.

“Yes! I found my shoes!” she hollered back triumphantly before grabbing them and racing down the stairs. “I can’t be late, right? I mean, I’m the boss.”

Taehyung looked up from the newspaper at the kitchen table with an amused grin. “Technically, but you might be setting a bad example to your staff.”

She shot a glare so lethal at him that had he not grown up with her, he’d have ducked. “You’re an ass.”

He just grinned and went back to the paper. She finished tying the laces to her boots before grabbing her keys from the counter. That’s when she noticed.

“You’re actually dressed.”

He looked down at his blue sweater and jeans. “Yes?”

She made a face. “Don’t act like I’m an idiot.”

“Don’t have to act.”

Her nostrils flared in irritation. “You’re normally in your boxers and t-shirt for most of the day. I know, I know, you’re an artist, but after awhile, I get sick of seeing those pale legs of yours.”

He rolled his eyes, taking a sip of whatever was steaming in the mug. She sniffed. A latte from their fancy machine. He’d bought it for her two Christmases ago. It was one of her favorite presents from him. 

“I’m looking at a venue for a show today. Figured I ought to look mildly normal.”

They both turned when the front door opened and closed. A few seconds later, Jeon Jungkook, dressed in a suit, showed. 

“Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” he asked Mere. 

His playful dig distracted her from mentally cursing his tailor because a suit should have never looked that good on a man four years her junior.
