Footsteps echo through the silent corridors, the heels of your boots clacking against the linoleum floor. Walking through the silent, glass-lined corridors of the Marine Research centre, your eyebrows furrow. It’s quiet. Way too quiet. Though, it’s not like the small facility is usually chockfull of people or anything. No, the Mokpo Marine Research Centre is a small building, with a mere staff of around fifty-odd people, and only three main scientists. You being one of them. Thus, with such a small working force occupying the building, it’s not as if you’re unused to the silence. However, it’s different today. The silence is terse, and a little uncanny, and you haven’t spotted a single other person. Not even the cleaning staff.

It’s still early in the morning - the sun only having risen an hour ago - but even then, you’d usually see at least one person on your way through the building. But you haven’t, and that has a weird niggling sense of foreboding prickling at your skin. Picking up speed, you practically begin power-walking towards the main laboratory, and as you approach the large white doors, the tension in your shoulders deflates. Low murmurs of a conversation filter through the air, the soft sounds intertwining with the thumping sounds of your footsteps and easing the eerie tranquillity that surrounds you.
