Thought the Great Sage Equal to Heaven himself. He doesn't have the spirit to train, to steal something or create another havoc in both realms; not in the mood safe to say, to visit his brothers.

Wukong let out an exaggerated yawn as he leans against the tree, maybe a little nap to avoid boredom for the first time. Until he notices one of his generals, General Beng comes up with paper in hand.

"My king, a letter from the Jade Cloud Mountain." Beng bowed.

"If it's from Princess Iron Fan. Burn it."

"It's actually from Macaque."

And in a blink of an eye, Wukong snatches the letter, not caring that he slapped Beng's hand as the poor guy pouted.

Wukong is getting all giddy. It's been a long time since he hasn't heard from Macaque after he declined to join the brotherhood and decided to stay with his sworn sister in the Jade Cloud Mountain. Which caused Wukong begged him to stay in Mount Huaguo with him instead but failed.

Obviously enough, Wukong have a crush on the little warrior since he first met him. Can't blame the king, the ebony monkey is gorgeous.

So it ruined his pride that his Macaque chose to stay with PIF instead of him.

Wukong opened the letter gently, not wanting to ruin the envelope that was handmade from Macaque himself as he takes out the paper and reads it. (Side note: Monkey King can read just in ancient text/old Chinese. My opinion.)

"To your majesty, oh wise, Sun Wukong. I'll be visiting Flower Fruit Mountain tomorrow and will probably stay there for a week with you, my dear friend. —Six-eared Macaque."

It was short but it gives the king's stomach butterflies.

But there's one detail of the letter that made him overthink.

A little doodle of a heart next to his name.

Wukong was a generally very messy person but ever since the journey do to Macaque's death Wukong tries to keep his hut almost the exact way Macaque left it, sure he took stuff in and out but kept it still as tidy as Macaque would have liked and that's why his hut is clean and hus treasurer room isn't

Angst shadowpeach headcannons:

-sometimes macaque feel envious of mk relationship with wukong thinking that he could never have the same closeness to wukong ever again

-wukong wants macaque to be around but he rather keep him in a safe distance he trust him but he's not ready to have the same friendship they had before

-macaque want wukong to look at him and wukong sometimes avoid looking at macaque directly

-both of them don't think they deserve the other forgiveness because they hurted each other so much

-macaque feels incredibly stupid for doubting that wukong cares about mk in the first seasons

-in the journey to the west wukong tried to draw macaque but stopped completely trying because he only remember macaque angry expression from their last argument

-macaque feels awfully guilty for thinking that wukong never cared and never got affected by everything that happened between them

-wukong regret hurting macaque in their arguments under the mountain but he doesn't regret choosing the pilgrims over the brotherhood
