Hii I Saw This:
hii i saw this:
and i was wondering if you could write a little something about spencer and reader. maybe reader has been told all her (or their, if you want to keep it gn) life that she's too difficult to love (too complicated) and spencer just loving her sm
thank you for your timeđ©·
It's always quiet at Spencer's apartment. Much quieter than yours which is the result of you wanting to live in a trendy area and him being the youngest person in his apartment building by a decade. The curtain is still open so the soft glow of the city lights can filter through the windows. He's laying with his head on your lap while you play with his hair, twirling the soft chocolate curls around your fingers.
He glances down at you when you stop your sentence midway. "You seem a little lost in thought. Everything okay?"
You glance down at him, faking a smile. "Yeah, just thinking about stuff, you know?"
He nods. "You can always talk to me, you know. Even just about stuff."
"Spencer, have you ever felt like you're just... too much? Like you're too complicated, and it's hard for anyone to really love you?" You try to explain the complicated feelings filling up your brain to him.
He frowns in concern. "Y/n, where is this coming from? Do you think I'm too much for you?"
You quickly shake your head, realizing how your comment came across. "No, I, uh, meant about me. It's just something that's been on my mind lately. I tend to overthink things, and I worry that my quirks and complexities might be too overwhelming for you to handle. I'm not really, you know, loveable."
Spencer sits up immediately, concern filling his features. "Y/n, you can't seriously think that. In no way are you too complicated. You're intricate, fascinating, and endlessly intriguing. I love learning, and I've learned a lot about a lot of things but my favorite thing to learn about is you."
You feel yourself tear up at his words. "Spence..."
He reaches out for your hands, holding them in his as he continues. "And as for being unlovable, that's simply not true. Loving you is..." He's speechless for a moment. "It's like plants photosynthesizing but you're the sunshine and water and I'm the plant." You're crying at his simile and the sincerity with which he says it. "Sorry, that was weird. I just meant it's natural."
"No, no. It was beautiful." He wipes up your tears too and you feel clean. "Thank you."
He cups your face in his hands, his gaze unwavering. "You deserve to be loved, Y/n, just as you are."
"You love me like that." You say softly. It hits you that he loves you for everything, and you hadn't realized your brain had convinced you that he didn't fully love you.
"I do." He confirms. "It's impossible not to."

I love you more
Ahhh itâs finally done! This is my first ever fic so itâs a little clunky, but I hope you like itđ
Summary: BAU reader and Aaron are married. What happens when she wakes up in a different past than the one she knows?
A/N: for the sake of the story Aaron and Haley get divorced some time in early S2. Reader joins in S3 and her and Aaron start dating during beginning S4. If anyoneâs curious itâs a friends to lovers where heâs already in love with her before they start dating. I might write that too if anyoneâs interested. sorry if thereâs any typos đââïž (girl dad Aaron inspired by all the Ellie Hotchner writing by @ssahotchnerr)
Tags: fluff, domestic fluff, ANGST lol, no happy ending (TBD I may write a part 2), no use of Y/N. My love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation and itâs very evident here. Donât come for me. SFW.
(Feel free to stop reading at the point where they fall asleep if you donât want to read angst).
âââââââââââââââ
Sunlight streams into the room, waking you up. You turn to the side to see Aaron already up, smiling.Â
âGood morning, Mrs. Hotchner.â
You giggle.Â
âGood morning, husband.â
His smile widens and he gives you a small kiss. It had been a little joke between you both on the day after your wedding, but it had stuck, becoming a part of your routine every morning. You both love it because it reminds each of you how happy you were on your wedding day, and how much you appreciate being in each others life. Itâs been a year and a half since your wedding, and almost 4 years since you started dating. You move around each other seamlessly, every step of your morning routine in sync. You both brush your teeth and then he makes coffee while you make breakfast. Jack comes down the stairs and you all eat together. After breakfast, he will wash the dishes as you make sure Jack has everything for school. Today though, as you meet Aaronâs eyes over your coffee, you know heâs thinking of your last case, a family annihilator who targeted families as they ate together. You both had trouble sleeping after coming home last night, but as he squeezes your hand, you are profoundly grateful for the simple gift of being able to drink coffee in the morning with the love of your life.Â
âI love youâ, you whisper, not wanting to alert Jack to why you both look a little sad.
âI love you tooâ, he whispers back.
âI love you the most!â, Jack shouts and you both smile. The two of them argue about how each of you loves the other more as you finish breakfast. Aaron picks up Jack and you all end up in a big giggly hug.Â
âHow about we all agree that all of us love each other the most?â, he asks. Jack ponders for a moment.
âOkayâ, he nods. âIf you love me can I have ice cream?â
You burst into laughter as Aaron frowns, trying to hide his smile.
âNice try buddy, but no ice cream before school.â
Jack pouts as you tell him to get his bag for school, but the ice cream is forgotten as you ask him some questions about his friends that he enthusiastically answers. He continues chattering on until heâs dropped off at school.
âBye!â, he yells before running out of the car to meet his friends.
ââ
You give each other a quick kiss while still in the Quantico parking lot. Youâve both agreed to keep things professional at work, including a rule about no PDA in the office. But yesterdayâs case must have rattled Aaron more than you thought because he grabs your hand in the elevator and squeezes three times. I love you. You squeeze three times back, which is how the elevator opens to you holding hands smiling as you look into each others eyes. You hear a squeal and both startle, dropping your hands, but not before Penelope takes a photo.Â
âI am making this your new computer background! I have a criminally small number of photos with you two. Youâre so professional all the time, you wouldnât even know that youâre togetherâ, she pouts.
âPenelope you took like a hundred photos at our weddingâ, you laugh.
âAnd there are rules about workplace conductâ, Aaron reminds, which causes her to blush. Derek walks past you three to whisk Penelope away.
âLeave mom and dad aloneâ, he whispers loudly while grinning, clearly meaning to let you both hear the office nickname for you two. You roll your eyes at him and smile at Aaron before heading to your desk, greeting the others good morning. You barely have a chance to sit down before JJ calls you all into the conference room for a briefing on a new case. You grab your go bag and head to the jet. The local police department has called you late and the unsubâs already starting to devolve, making mistakes everywhere and leading you all to finding him within a couple of hours after landing. He gets shot while getting apprehended which means thereâs no interrogation either. You all pile back onto the jet, the pilot letting you know that youâll be back at Quantico in an hour. It feels wrong to go home on time. For all that death to be part of a regular 9 to 5 work day. Catching the unsub is supposed to mean a success, but itâs tense on the jet. Youâre still reeling at the attitude of the local police department. They were insistent to do what they could to keep the BAU off the case and made it clear you had only invited because they were forced to by the mayor. You wonder if they had called sooner, that maybe some of the victims would still be alive. If he wouldnât have killed his last victim when the police had ignored your profile and approached him with force instead of sympathy as you had recommended. Youâre pretty sure everyone on the plane is thinking it too. You lift your arm into the air and gently nudge Aaronâs up too. Spencer catches your eye and his arm is also already halfway up, knowing exactly whatâs coming.
âLast one with their hand in the air buys the first round tonightâ, you say and immediately everyoneâs hands shoot up except Rossi, who looks mildly annoyed.
âI would have bought a round for everyone anywayâ, he shrugs.
Emily scoffs. âGrandpaâs a sore loserâ, she says under her breath which causes you all to crack up. The air immediately feels lighter and everyone starts joking again, debating the fairness of your hands up game. You grab Garcia before leaving Quantico and all head to the bar down the street. Her bubbly chatter makes everyone laugh and you canât help but feel pleased. The job was tough mentally, and you always tried to make sure the team was doing well. Satisfied that everyone was cheerful again, you decide to leave after the first round, but Aaron pulls you to the dance floor before you can even order, which gets you grins from other members of the team. You laugh as he spins you around.
âDamn Hotch got movesâ, Derek shouts.
âIf my wife looked like that Iâd beg her to dance with me tooâ, Emily smirks.
You ignore their teasing, swaying in Aaronâs arms and enjoying the scent of him mixed with his cologne and laundry detergent. It smells like home. He kisses your forehead, finding comfort in the smell of your shampoo, and the soothing feeling of your body against his.Â
âEveryoneâs in a better mood because of you. Thank you for doing thisâ, he says into your hair.
You shrug. âEveryone needed this, including me. Itâs not a big deal, I like it when everyoneâs happy. It makes me happy.â
He gazes at you in rapture before leaning down to take your lips with his, kissing you breathless. Youâre a little dazed when you both pull apart.
âWhat was that for Mr. Hotchner?â, you grin.Â
You think you could get drunk on the way he looks at you.
âI donât know what Iâd do without you. I love you so muchâ, he says softly.
You feel a little prickle of tears. âI love you too. I donât know what Iâd do without you either, so youâre stuck with me foreverâ, you joke, causing him to smile.
âYou promise?â
âI promise.â
He leaves a kiss on your neck and you breathe out a sigh.
âWant to get out of here?â
âTrying to take advantage of me Mrs. Hotchner?â, he teases.
âYesâ, you giggle.
âThank Godâ, he grins, pulling you towards the door.
âWeâre going home!â, you wave at everyone who waves back, giving you both knowing smirks.
âUse protection!â, Emily yells, which earns her an eye roll from you.Â
You walk over to your car and Aaron puts an arm around your waist.
âA little late for thatâ, he smiles.
You nudge his shoulder. âDid you only dance with me so I wouldnât have to explain why I couldnât drink?â
He gives you a little smile. âI danced with you because youâre beautiful. The fact that you asked me to help you keep it a secret was a fun bonusâ.
The second you had seen the pregnancy stick change colour, Aaron had covered you in kisses. You were both elated. But telling people you were pregnant meant you would have to sit out from field work for a while and you loved your job. Aaron had been against it at first, worried about your safety, but you had come to an agreement that you would stop when you were ready, as long as you promised to take it easy. So you were keeping it a secret. But you both wanted to tell people.
âI think we should tell them soonâ, you say. âAt the rate sheâs growing, people are going to figure it out anywayâ
Aaron looks at you excitedly. âYeah?â
âYeahâ.
He interlaces his fingers with yours and you drive home with you hands in each others.
When you get home you thank Jessica for watching Jack. Heâs excited that youâre both home early enough to tuck him into bed, but heâs tired and his eyes are fighting to stay open.
âGood night Jack, I love youâ, you whisper, kissing his forehead.
âI love you mommyâ, he mumbles.
Then he hugs your stomach.
âI love you, babyâ, he says.
You and Aaron melt, trying not to tear up. You were worried when you had first found out about your pregnancy, not wanting Jack to feel left out, but he had been so excited at the thought of having a sibling. After finding out that the baby could hear him, he had been chatting to her all the time. He was going to be a great big brother.
âI love you too daddyâ, he says.
Aaron chuckles. âLove you buddy. Time to sleep.â
Jack nods off and you both quietly tiptoe out of his room.Â
You get into bed and Aaron immediately puts him arms around you, pulling you to him.Â
âHow come he says I love you to you and the baby before me?â, he teases, rubbing his hand on your back.
âI guess he loves us moreâ, you joke. Aaron moves around so his face is near your stomach.Â
âHey sweetheart, your mom and Jack are teaming up against me. Iâll give you anything you want so promise me youâll say Dad first instead of Mom or Jack when you come out okay?â
You smack his arm lightly.
âStop bribing our daughter. And sheâs going to say Mom first, right honey?â
Aaron smiles into your pyjamas. âItâs okay. I understand. I love your mom the most tooâ.
You pull him back up and rest your head on his shoulder.
âI canât wait to meet herâ, you whisper.
âIf sheâs anything like you, sheâs going to be perfectâ, he says.
âI hope sheâs like youâ, you tell him sincerely. Youâd be lucky if your daughter was anything like her father. âI love youâ.
You lie in each others arms, the last words you hear before falling asleep are a murmur of âI love you moreâ.
ââââââââââââ
You wake up to the smell of pancakes. You smile, remembering you had told Aaron in the car last night that you wanted to eat some. You try to blink the fatigue out of your eyes and move towards the door. You recall a dream about him from last night that comes to you in flashes. Itâs fuzzy, and youâre sleepy, which is why you donât notice anything wrong until you step out and see the kitchen. Not your kitchen. And not Aaron in it. A smiling face startles you awake.
âEmily?â
âYou woke up! I made pancakes, come have someâ.
You stare at her. âWhen did I get here?â
She laughs. âYouâve been living here for like 2 weeks.â
What? âSeriously, how did I get here?â.
Her smile fades at the confusion on your face.
âYou donât remember?â
You shake your head and her brows immediately furrow in concern.
âYou told me you were cleared for a concussionâ, she mutters, sounding a little angry.
âConcussion?â
She forces you to sit down, frantically turning off the stove and grabbing you both coats. âOk, weâre going to the hospital. I canât believe you lied to me.âÂ
Lied? What the hell was going on?
âWhat? How would I have a concussion? Why am I in your apartment? Whereâs Aaron?â, you ask, slightly panicked at this point.
Your words make her go still. She stares at you for a moment, but before you can say anything else, she grabs her car keys and starts pushing you out the door. She promises to explain later and, despite your protests, manages to get you in the car. She sets up the GPS and starts driving.
âOkay how much do you remember?â, she asks worriedly.
âI remember we went for drinks last night after the case, then we went home and went to bed. Why am I in your apartment? Why would I have a concussion?â.
She grips the steering wheel a little tighter and speeds up. You grip your seatbelt.
âOh my God, Emily slow downâ, you yelp.
She ignores you and pulls into the hospital parking lot, dragging you towards the ER. She flashes her badge at a nurse.
âEmily Prentiss, FBI.â She gestures at you. âSheâs an agent. She hit her head yesterday and now sheâs having memory problems. I think she has a concussion.âÂ
The nurse nods and asks you both to wait a moment. She gives you a form to fill out and Emily takes it. You look at her, exasperated.
âWhatâs going on?â
She looks tired. âWe didnât go out for drinks yesterday. You hit your head taking down an unsub. You told me you were cleared by the EMT, and youâve been staying at my apartment sinceâŠâ, she looks pained. â⊠for about 2 weeks because youâve been a little⊠reckless lately.â
âReckless?â If anything youâve been more careful because youâre scared you might hurt the baby. âIâm not reckless.â
Emily stares at you in disbelief.
âYou walked into a dangerous situation without backup. Look, I know things have been hard with Hotch-â
âWhat?â Why would things be hard with Aaron? âAaron knows I wouldnât do anything unnecessarilyâ, you tell her.Â
Her eyes cloud in sympathy and you stare back, confused. Ok, well Aaron would be upset if you had stormed in without backup. But he knew you were capable and even mad, would still respect your decision. Right? Youâre about to start interrogating her for answers when a voice interrupts you.
âEmily?â
You look up and all the blood drains from your face. Youâre thankful youâre sitting down because youâre certain you would have fallen over. Emily squeezes your hand before standing up and greeting the owner of the voice.
âHi, Haley, what are you doing here?â
You try not to look like you were seeing a ghost. Standing in front of you was a woman that was supposed to be dead, except she was very much alive. And also staring at you. She gives you a wave. Your brain somehow sends a signal to your arm to do the same.
âI just finished a checkup. Iâm about to leaveâ, she says.
The two chat a little before Haley is called away by a nurse. You stare at the back of her head until she disappears.Â
âYou okay?â, Emily asks quietly.
You donât even know how to answer. You glance down at the form Emily had left on her seat and blanch at the numbers on the top.
âEmily, what day is it?â
She looks at you worried.
âWednesday.â
âThe date. The full dateâ, you croak.
âWednesday, 16th December 2009.â
You grip the chair. No. It was 2012. 16th December 2012.
âWhat day do you think it is?â, she asks softly.Â
You close your eyes and take a deep breath. Itâs a prank. Some kind of prank. But you open your eyes and Emily is still staring at you. And suddenly your dream from last night comes back to you. You in Aaronâs driveway picking up some pictures from his old house to use for a surprise. Seeing Foyet walk in with Haley and Jack. Sneaking into the house and waiting for Jack to leave and shooting Foyet. Haley screaming as his blood splattered all over her. You silent as you watch the life leave his eyes. Aaron running in, hugging Jack and consoling Haley as she cried. Them leaving together. Him being on leave to spend time with them and you giving him space. Him bumping into you at a coffee shop after not speaking to you for 3 weeks. You running into the building with a deranged unsub without backup a few hours later. You feel it all like you were there. Not a dream, but memories. Each one filling you with agony and dread. You feel sick. You need to see Aaron.
âI have to goâ, you tell Emily. She protests, telling you you need to get checked out, but she can tell from the haunted look in your eyes that you remember everything now. She nods, helping you to catch a taxi. Youâre on autopilot as you give the driver the address to Aaronâs old apartment. The ride is a blur and you barely remember being in the elevator or knocking his door. Youâre in a haze until he opens the door. The immediate guilt in his eyes and the sinking feeling in your stomach is sickeningly real.
âI need to talk to youâ, you say, your voice shaking. He stares at you before opening the door wider, letting you in. You move towards the sofa but neither of you sit. Silence stretches out between the two of you. You need to say something. You need him to tell you this isnât real. But you donât know how to behave, how to be around this version of him that isnât your husband. What do you say to the man who doesnât know he was the father of a child that doesnât even exist? He runs a hand through his hair and looks down at his feet. You continue to stare at the empty space beside his head. Before you had moved into your house, there used to be a picture hanging there of you, him and Jack. Now itâs just a blank wall. He breaks the silence first.
âTheyâve offered me retirement.â
Your Aaron hadnât told you like this. He had told you he was coming back. You suppose thereâs only one reason he would tell you.
âYouâre going to take it.â
Itâs supposed to be a question, but you know him too well.
âI have to. For them.â
Every moment of what was supposed to be the rest of your life dies before your eyes. Youâll never have your sleepy good mornings. Never hear him call you his wife, never get married. Never hear Jack calling you mom, never sit down and eat with your family. They werenât your family anymore, you remember. They were Haleyâs. You want to scream. At the universe? At him?
He just thinks heâs breaking up with his girlfriend, you tell yourself. That the Aaron in front of you has barely even been in love with you for a year. He doesnât know that he has any memories of your life together to miss. But he must see the devastation in your face because you see the shame etched in his. You watch his heart breaking at the thought of hurting you. As he sheds a tear, you instinctively bring your hand to his cheek, wiping it away with your thumb. He rests his forehead on your shoulder and you move your hand to the back of his head.
âI donât know what to doâ, he says, his voice breaking.
You feel your own tears fall down your face, warm. He doesnât see them.
âYou doâ, you whisper back.
You know. That he loves Haley, but he doesnât want to hurt you. That he loves you, but he wants to be a good father more. That their marriage had really only ended because of his job. You also know that you refuse to be with him if heâs in love with someone else. That you wonât be the reason Jack canât have both his parents happily married under one roof. That Aaron deserves happiness with the love of his life, even if itâs not you. So you take a step towards him and allow yourself the comfort of being held by him one last time. You bury your face into his neck, and breathe him in. The feeling of his arms wrapped around you, and his smell, the two things that were once your greatest solace would now be the two things you would always wish you could forget. You want to stay here forever, to pretend that this was still the Aaron who loved you. But you put your hands on his chest, pushing your face away from the crook of his neck to look at him. You wonder if he remembers your life together - the future you would have had. If he knows there is a girl neither of you will ever meet. But he doesnât look at you the way he used to. You feel, with a mournful certainty, that those memories are yours to die with. He presses his lips together, trying to blink his tears away. They fall anyway. You smile at the man who isnât yours anymore.
âYou love herâ.
His whole body hurts at the certainty in your tone. Its agonising finality.
âIâm sorryâ, he murmurs. You wonder what it means that you hope he doesnât blame himself for your heart breaking. To you it just feels like pain.
âI knowâ.Â
Your lips touch his in a farewell, the ghosts of a thousand kisses never to be dying between them. The words exchanged between two lovers from a lifetime ago feel heavy on your tongue. He would never hear you say them and you would never hear it back.
I love you.
âGoodbye, Aaronâ.

thank you for reading :)

This is so funny đđ I love when both characters are clueless about each others attraction đ€Ą
i saw your post about jealous!hotch, so I was wondering if you can write something where there isn't an established relationship between hotch and bau!reader (yet ;))), the reader is a huge fan of an actor/character (kind of like how we, hotch girls, fangirl over Aaron đ€) and Hotch got jealous whenever he hears her talks about the actor/character and then the reader was wondering why he's acting unusual, (like he would mutter something to himself like how he's much better than the man the reader talks about but they don't hear it, or he's suddenly not in a mood, etc.) and the team knows why he's acting unusual (he's jealous) and they're entertained watching the both of them be oblivious, and hotch kind of slipped or something that revealed his feelings for the readerđ€ if you can't write it, then it's okay!! feel free to change anything however you want<33
hehe what if aaron was jealous of thomas gibson himself đ€đ€đ€
⥠⥠⥠âĄ
âI am definitely taller than him.â
âWhat was that, Hotch?â you asked, after hearing him mumble something under his breath.
âNothing,â he said more clearly this time. âGo back to your very important conversation with Garcia. The meeting doesnât start until ten, so you have plenty of time.â
âThank you,â you answered with a smile, pretending you didnât notice his sarcasm.
âSo heâs tall and respectful? What else would a girl need?â Penelope swooned, picking up from where you two had left off.
âIâm telling you! Penny, I swearâŠGreg is my dream man.â
You had turned your spinning chair to the side so you could face Garcia, and missed the way Aaron rolled his eyes at your words.
âAnd they got married the day they met?â she asked, her hand on her chest.
âYes! Itâs so romantic. And donât even get me started about all the physical touch. Itâs definitely his love language.â
âUghâŠHe sounds perfect.â
âHe is.â
âSo are you gonna show me how he looks like?â
âRight!â you exclaimed. âI have a whole album of pictures of him. Wait.â
You pulled out your phone and found a screenshot from the episode of âDharma & Gregâ you were watching the night before. âThatâs my baby.â
Aaron should be feeling lucky you were still turned to the side and couldnât see the way he was desperately trying to take a peek at your phone.
âOh,â Penelope said. But it wasnât the kind of âohâ you were expecting.
âWhat?â you asked disappointed. âDonât tell me he isnât hot. Heâs literally a doll.â
âNo, IâŠâ she said. She seemed startled. âHe isâŠumâŠreally good looking. ButâŠY/NâŠDo you not notice something in particular about him?â
âLike what?â
âTall. Dark hair. Dark eyes. Cheekbones.â
âYeah, like I said: my dream man,â you simply said, unable to understand where she was going with this.
âHeâs not all that.â
That was Aaron.
âHow would you know?â you were quick to ask him.
âI googled this Thomas Gibson guy who played Greg,â he said, acting casual. âHeâs average at best.â
âHe is not average,â you defended him.
âI canât tell which one of you is more stupid,â Penelope said softly, mostly to herself.
âWhat?â you both replied at the same time.
She shook her head. âNothing. I just rememberedâŠI have to go make a phone call.â
Once you were left alone with your boss you crossed your arms against your chest and furrowed your brows. âAverageâŠâ
âHeâs just some guy.â
âHeâs not. Heâs the most handsome man in the world,â you said.
âSure.â
At his last word, you got up from your seat and walked so you could stand right in front of him with a smirk.
âWhat?â
âYou sound almost jealous of him.â
âWhy would I be jealous of him?â
âI donât know, Hotch,â you replied, your smirk getting even wider. âWhy would you?â
He stared at the picture of your celebrity crush he had previously googled. âHe has nothing I should be jealous of. I mean my hair is better, and Iâm pretty sure Iâm taller.â
âI knew that was what you said earlier!â
âShut up.â
You giggled and tilted your head looking at him. The way he said those two words almost reminded you of Greg.
âYou kind of look like him.â
âI donât see it,â he said, taking a glance at his phone again.
âI think I do.â You smiled softly.
Maybe your dream man was your grumpy, stubborn, and very very adorable boss after all.
Hi Hotch readers, holding you hostage for a vote again.
I added an original character to add a jealous Hotch scene in a Hotch x reader series and now the backstory is so long đ« (but I promise it makes the whole story better, itâs just that one chapter is very reader + OC centric)
(Iâm so sorry for the tags, I know this isnât what youâre looking for when you search them đđ. I just donât know how else to reach the people who read them)
update: fuckkkkk skwiwhsv just spent hours writing a whole plot just to realise at the very end that I have a better idea? And the plot is totally unnecessary? I hate it here đ
screaming, crying, throwing up
I now have loving parents, a therapist and a t-shirt! (Should I laugh or cry)

as you and aaron entered the bullpen, you were both quick to notice the others huddled around spencer's desk, surely for a new session of physics magic.
a smile immediately twitched at aaron's lips, tossing you a mischievous look. as long as it didn't make a mess, or a disruption - per his and reid's previous discussions - he really didn't mind the recurring demonstrations.
but would he ever miss an opportunity to get the blood rushing in this scenario - never.
"be nice." you teased, laughing softly under your breath as you followed him over.
"i'm always nice." aaron playfully insisted, those brown eyes flickering in that way that just melted your heart. "what do you mean?"
"better be careful," emily's warning came into earshot as you neared, completely oblivious to the two of you - the timing just perfect. "or else dad's gonna ground you."
aaron's expression quirked at the title, his eyebrows lightly furrowing.
"oh please," spencer said, his fingers making quick work of whatever the experiment happened to be. "he's too busy with mom-"
jj's eyes happened to lift right at mom, made direct eye contact with you, and immediately choked back a laugh. some horror timidly filled her eyes, and she didn't cover up her sound too adequately. it caused the others to instantly look up too, and freeze.
"busted." jj mumbled, her gaze finding the ground.
aaron's smile resurfaced, crossing his arms. his tone was playful, yet confused and utterly amused nonetheless. "dad?"
spencer flushed. "uh..."
"oh c'mon. cut the crap." emily interrupted with an eye roll, looking between the two of you. "like it's not shocking at this point. just look at what the two of you were about to do, lecture us-"
"hey no," with a laugh you cut in, arching an eyebrow. "i don't lecture."
"exactly. he does," emily crossed her arms also with a smitten smirk - her point thoroughly exhibited. "you're the flexible one. see, mom and dad."
"i always thought rossi was dad." aaron expressed openly, a small chuckle shaking through his chest.
"no, you were always dad," jj shook her head, "rossi was mom, until," once again, her eyes found yours, smiling softly this time. "until someone else came around, and took on the role wholeheartedly."
you grinned, exchanging a quick, loving glance with aaron. "what's dave now, then?"
"old."
