Here's to more Cat Mom Byakko, a single momma of four kids (read: cats)

modern au but is it really?

chuuya has recently moved to the countryside from the busy city, for the change of scenery but also because it's closer to the hospital that is looking after his twin brother. verlaine and rimbaud think it's a good idea, for a change of pace.

anyways chuuya goes through the notions of being the new kid from the city now in the quiet countryside with their dirt roads, hokura(small shrines found on the country roadsides), and rice fields, as well as neighbors a good walk away from his new home. he adjusts well, surprisingly. his friends at school who claim themselves to be called the flags, his neighbor who frequently visits who he found calling her ane-san. and since moving, he was able to visit his brother in the hospital more often, whose health has been progressing slowly but positively. baki's now able to walk with a cane, an upgrade from his wheelchair!

but he could tell that something was... different about this side of the country. he couldn't figure out what the feeling was. and when asking ane-san and the flags, they all deduce that he was simply getting used to the airy atmosphere the spirits brought, as if welcoming them. that same night, he could hair faint whistling amongst the gentle breeze and rustling treetops.

it was any other day where chuuya found himself laying amongst the grass, enjoying the sun on his skin. then just a moment later, he hears a skitter. but when he looked over, there was nothing. thinking nothing of it, he resumed minding his own business. this happens for the next few minutes before chuuya just got tired and snapped his head over. only to see a white fox from the nose to tailtip.

with his phone in their jaws.

needless to say, chuuya gave chase after the animal who raced off, letting out loud squeals that sound as if it were laughing. but in this current scenario, chuuya felt-- no, knew-- it was mocking him. they ran all over the place; his open front yard, down through the streets (it didn't help that he people were out and about harvesting their fields, they have a front row seat to the spectacle happening before them. the flags, definitely), and through the forest brush.

after chasing the white speck of squealing fur for what felt like a lifetime, chuuya finally first through the forest and... into a small clearing. it physically made him stop to take in the sudden change of scenery, as one second ago it was purely forest. and now... there's a path that he could tell has been overun by the grass. he could barely see the stone slates that help make the path. at the edges of the clearing, small but prominent stones with shimenawa encircled the clearing. and just ahead of him, a rundown and unattended hokura, a small stone statue in the form of a fox with five tails. five? suddenly, he hears a mischievous snicker behind him, and he whips around, remembering what brought him on this wild goosechase.

only to be met twin white fox ears poking out the top of curly brown hair, a glint in heather brown eyes accompanied by a mischievous smirk, and five white tails behind them and their blue kimono.

oh, and his phone in their mouth.

Human Abilities AU but a bit specific

it's nothing much, really, just some mama byakko (gimme more byakko stuffs, i keep seeing those cute videos on twitter about a white tiger and their white tiger cub or just white tiger, and i canNOT stop thinking that it's just atsushi and byakko[which i probably derailed from entirely]). And in a sense, I would want to talk a bit more about this AU and backstories, soooo ye! Byakko time, lets go-!

I've already established before that atsushi still goes through the whole orphanage in childhood until 18. I would imagine that while atsushi has practically lived in that orphanage for as long as he could remember, byakko sort of... showed up one day and just... claimed atsushi as hers and didn't look back. But more in the sense that kids were scared of her, they avoided atsushi, so they may as well help one another out by hanging out (byakko scares the kids away from bullying atsushi, and atsushi keeps byakko company) [insert byakko just sitting quietly, completely unbothered while atsushi just runs around and basically having zoomies each time he sees a flower or a bee] When she turned 18 though, similar to canon!atsushi, byakko gets kicked out and is furious. but it became an choice that she unfortunately had to choose the latter; keep trying to break in and they'd call the authorities or leave with the chance at seeing him again. so for the next five years, byakko decided to tune in all that frustration adn waiting into making a home to welcome atsushi. and you bet that when atsushi, too, was kicked our when he turned 18, byakko was just outside the grounds waiting for him.

which brings to the (possibly) present of this au! byakko and atsushi live each other and just have that big sister and little brother bond that's similar to big sibling raising their little sibling vibe. it mostly stayed the same as when they were in the orphanage, just this time around, from atsushi running around byakko and having the zoomies, atsushi drags byakko places whilst having the zoomies. And that's how they meet the others! Oh, and Rashomon, too. Yeahhh, they're at each other's necks practically 24/7 or anywhere they run into each other (which is often, oddly enough). but unlike skk/sskk where they argue outwordly, the two just have that odd connection of "telepathy". no one knows how they do it, but if they stare at each other for too long, byakko might start growling and rashomon would start bristling. it's not a fun sight. BUT! As mentioned before (again), they end up getting along somewhere along the line. (No one knows, even atsushi and aku)

doa!atsushi but instead of being appointed to either fyodor or nikolai, he stuck rather close to sigma and stayed with them at the sky casino. [starts derailing] atsushi would at least young adolescence. 14 maybe? look im not accustomed with the timeline, so my hc is that his ability didn't manifest until he was at least 11-12, leading to him getting the scars at 10, that's what im going with. but if we're going by the fact that sigma has been created three years prior, then that would lead to atsushi being 15. so in my head the timeline is that atsushi would have joined the doa just as sigma was materialized and was given the sky casino. and because fyodor might think it was too early for him to exploit atsushi and his ability to find the book, he decides to just- drop this kid on another (supposed?) kid and just walked away. [stops derailing]

just-- two unfortunate souls growing up together with no sense of belonging in the world and just doing what they could to keep the closest thing that was home, the sky casino, safe. look i like their friendship a lot and i'm just imagining scenarios regarding them doing research of the city below them called Yokohama, learning its people and its quirks, going against the hunting dogs, them reuniting with nikolai after sigma fell with maybe atsushi jumping down with him, and just whatever is going on with (￣▽￣*)ゞ

this is definitely not an excuse to think of atsushi working in the sky casino as a supposed employee. DEFINITELY sigma's right-hand man/secretary at least, but atsushi's too young to gamble. (no shiz, if we're going off from the earlier derailing, he would be 15 years old to 18 dazeit). so maybe he looks after the customers and residence(?) of the casino? I DONT KNOW IM ABOUT TO RAMBLE WA-

yknow what. Human Abilities AU where people's abilities are just... their own person. similar to a modern au but the abilities are also there but as actual people ^^ starting with sskk and skk! (am i making it into yin-yang w|w and double black m|m? maybe. i dont know myself. i think.)

byakko would be the strict but motherly protective tiger that i headcanon her to be. very protective of atsushi since he still goes through hell in an orphanage, and really, she has no filter but is nice enough to place one on for... five minutes. voice claim... ethereal but monotone. my girl's blunt. ex: tigress from kung fu panda rashomon would likely act similar to aku in a sense, but... more teasing. she likes to rile byakko up, but those happen on, like, a good day. which is one out of... two-three weeks. but similar to byakko, she's protective of the siblings very much, and can and will spoil those two with sweets since the whole slums situation. now her voice claim would likely have an elegant voice compared to byakko, yet both have the same bite. ex: yae miko from genshin impact but toned down. --- how these two interact... hm. probably how atsushi and aku were from day one in canon, they hated each other. but it could go two ways: where they catch fists or egged on by rashomon's teasing... "or is she threatening?" <- byakko. but after some time, from hating each others guts when on site and also not, it more or less evolves to them... liking each other's company. byakko helps rashomon regarding seeing things in other perspectives, however blunt they are. and rashomon helps byakko with the social cues. neither of them are the talkers, but when its just them two, no words would be spoken and yet they just understand what they need.

now for no longer human, whom i shall call "null". null is... silent. the silent eerie character that rarely talks but is just... there. not much cues in his blank and expressionless face, and his posture is solemn and tight. he acts much similar to 15!dazai but more melancholic. he took the brunt of whatever happened in his and dazai's childhood, he's a lot more mature than that. his voice claim would be a deep voice, could be heard as monotone or angry to strangers, but with those who's familiar with him, it's just... calming. ex: the horse from the boy, the mole, the fox, and the horse. for the tainted sorrow, or more or less arahabaki... he's basically a chuuya but more destructive, and he doesn't want to slow down. but when it comes to null, its either that he has to be in pace with the other or he can and will drag them. they don't care. but of course, others wonder why he cares so much for null if its said that he doesnt care at all. now some might say that no one could manage to understand him, others would say that he might speak riddles. a sort of ethereal tone, and it's oddly pitched. possible ex: sphinx from dragons dogma 2. --- this one's different, how they interact. basically: arahabaki would try and egg null on, get them riled up, but for the sake of proving the man wrong in his own point. it's unfortunately that both null and dazai have that sense of not being human. and while chuuya has his own way in showing dazai he has a life worth living, arahabaki's situation is a more difficult one. because null's more observant and quiet, the man likely has several scenarios going through his head on what's to happen, and has definitely figured out what arahabaki's planning on doing and avoided it with some certain word of phrase. so, arahabaki turns those words against null. two can play that game. but while arahabaki helps null with that, null helps with arahabaki's destructive and explosive tendencies, managing to defuse a situation in mere seconds and get them out of trouble. they're looking out for each other, and they have their backs.

Needless to say, I changed a few things. More or less ditched Byakko's coat cause really why would she need that while Rasho got a bit of an update regarding her wardrove and coat- AND I HAD TO DITCH THE HAT, I'M SORRY HER HEAD & NECK BEGAN TO FEEL CROWDED-

Anyways, I think that's all (am uploading now cause i did something dumb and when trying to copy a post's link here on tumblr, it FLIPPED on me and I accidentally clicked on "suggest community label" godforskenmeeeeee- so in a sense i feel like me struggling to upload things is enough torture for me [rarely uploads but am trying to change that here-])
