Now y’all out here spoiling toy story?!

Toy Story 4 (Spoilers)

So honestly I felt so conflicted about this movie at first. Parts of it are so good, while other parts at first left me feeling very confused. But after thinking things through I’ve had a realization about this story’s lesson and what it represents!

Starting with the positives, it looks phenomenal! The graphics are amazing and the level of detail makes my head spin!!

Just look at their clothing, you can see every individual stitch!!! And Buzz, those stickers peeling up, that’s creative and fun!

So visually yes it was AMAZING, along with small details like Jessie being claustrophobic! I really enjoyed when we go those character moments, not to mention the well integrated humor! And dear lord, the way Woody was looking at Bo! And I really enjoyed the new characters!

But that’s where the issues started, there was only a few scenes with the orginal gang. It felt as if they were background characters, rather than round complex characters with individual personalities.

And the thing that really stuck with me was how OOC Buzz was. Buzz has never been the brightest crayon, but he was never this stupid. Sure he believed he was “The Real BUZZ LIGHTYEAR” for ¾ths of the original movie, but by the 3rd he was negotiating peace treatys to save his friends!

Those were the issues I couldn’t get past, here’s the ones I just can’t make my mind up about.

Woody’s final decision to leave the gang. Part of me loves it, because it tells a story of personal growth and learning to be your own person, that can change. Living for yourself is really difficult, and something many struggle with. So this comes as an extremely valuable lesson in this day of age.

This wouldn’t irk me as much as it does if it didn’t completely contradict Woody’s characterization. Woody always stood for loyalty, no matter what. Even when Andy was going off to college, when he knew him and the gang weren’t going to be played with, he still wanted to go up to the attic. So he could remain loyal to Andy, and possibly Andy’s children one day too.

It just seems out of character for Woody to leave his family behind, but at the end of the day it’s actually the most realistic thing about the new Toy Story. It resembles real life.

Woody’s use to be fulfilled by waiting for a kid, but he grew tired of it. So he looked for new purpose, through finding love and adventure.

And you will find this happens to most people, it happened to Andy. It will happen to most of us, if not all of us. If you think about it Woody really just represents growing up in this new movie.

One day we all leave our friends of our childhood, we go to new, places find love, and make a new family. For Woody his childhood is over, and maybe that’s the best way for Toy Story to end. We’re adults now, and so is Woody.

So maybe at first is seems a little out of character for Woody to leave his family, but that’s okay because at some point we all change, and leave our families.

So overall Toy Story 4 may not of been the exact movie we where looking for, but at the end of the day we got was visually amazing film. With a new compelling story line, and an epic romance that was a true adventure!
