lila's 12 days of writers self love

welcome, writers, to my christmas writing event themed around self love of our writing! far too often during the year (and especially during the holiday season) we put ourselves and our strengths, creativity, and worth last. writers don't appreciate their writing enough, and i would like to make sure some self care is practiced in this stressful time for everyone.

how it works:

each day will follow a piece of writing of yours that fits the prompt list below. these pieces can be 10 years old or 10 minutes old, you can write something specifically for the prompt if you want, whatever!

the prompts are up to your interpretation, meaning they don't have to contain a scene with a hug in it, for example. the scene/piece can represent what a hug feels like to you, and for something for repulsed, the interpretations are endless! there is no wrong way to interpret.

if you want, you can talk about what you like about that piece, how you're proud of it, etc. there is no limit to the self hyping up you can do !!

The event will run from December 1 to 12, to avoid the busyness of the typical 12 days.

here are the prompts:

hug

crown

repulsed

blood

flower

clothing

god

music

dance

magic

kiss

ending

tagging people who showed interest (thank you for all the reblogs, everyone!) @traveler-of-realms @regularfishes @vicstmichael @roselin-books-official @prettyquickpoetry @gay-frog-in-a-swamp @moondust-bard @msfluffy0617 @midnight-and-his-melodiverse @bookish-galaxy @annetilney @dakrapatops @did-i-do-this-write @xxjanoca000 @adtula @verba-writing @winglesswriter @dogmomwrites @pothimi @coffeewritesfiction @jacquesfindswritingandadvice @sleepyowlwrites @writinginslowmotion @starryeyes2000 @miniaturebiscuit @ettawritesnstudies @catkin-morgs

even if you don't want to participate, which is totally fine, boosts would be appreciated!! i'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has to share <3<3 if you want, you can tag your posts with #12 days of writers self love, or tag me if you want me to reblog it!!

Star Wars AU where Anakin is still friends with Palpatine but doesn’t Fall because from the get-go he just assumes that Palpatine is Super Old TM and even though he’s the Chancellor he’s probably a little crazy, because even the wisest Grandparents on Tatooine would say absolute batshit sometimes, so anything Palpatine says that questions the Jedi or sounds a little off Anakin doesn’t even pay attention to because “Oh, he’s a little senile today”

After a reply on my petty weaving-in-ends post, I have realized you all need to know about the glory of

~~~~TECHknitting~~~~
What, a blogspot site, in this, our year of 2022? Yes.
Look, are you just getting into knitting, and you've followed a couple of patterns or tutorials, but you don't really get why things go a certain way? Or are you an advanced knitter looking for refined techniques, ways to smooth some things out? Perhaps, like me, you want a clear explainer of a certain cast on/bind off, so you can clearly see how it works while you do it, and you can't stand learning things from a video you have to keep pausing, the fast forwarding, then going back to that one part you needed to see again?
TECHknitting is for you. The writer is a very experienced knitter, and better, a curious one, who develops and improves techniques, and makes the best, clearest, color-coded diagrams of the hows and whys and which ways of knitting. An archive of articles 16 years deep, each as good as the last. There's even an index by subject.
A taste:
Here is an exhaustive explanation of my favorite all-purpose cast on, with diagrams of what to do with your hands, tips for variations/improvements, and links to other relevant posts.
A thorough exploration of why your stockinette scarf curls, while garter/ribbing/seed stitch don't, due to the nature of the stitches & their relation to each other. A multi-part series, with solutions that don't work and why, and ways to modify patterns & existing items to fix it. Like do you wanna really understand the fabric you're creating, & why it behave the way it does? This is the shit.
A whole series on knitting better bands & cuffs
Posts about how to pick up stitches properly, where "properly" means "so it'll look the way you want", ie not just bc the knitting gods said so, but how and why it'll affect the fabric you're making, so you can choose the outcome you want.
Basic crochet for knitters, and how crochet techniques can be used to improve your knitting.
A favorite (complicated) bind off, and a way to fake it. And, as usual, why/when you'd want to choose one technique over the other, and technical details on how and why the two bind offs act the way they do.
Different ways to match your cast on to your bind off.
I could go on; in fact I'm having to force myself not to just keep reading these all afternoon. Seriously, it's so good.
