hi here to rant again bc if you think things can’t get worse oh yes they can!!!

so my landlord texted me yesterday saying that we’re using too much electricity and it doubled for this month so she going to have us start paying the difference starting in September (?) idk why she said September but whatever fine. Again we can barely afford rent as it is rn and adding $100-$200 increase because we used too much electricity is kinda crazy considering we had so many heatwaves this month alone. Mind you we also don’t have central air so when it’s hot outside it’s hotter inside (we also sleep in the attic in which we need not one but 2 big ass AC units up here bc heat rises and it literally burns like hell up here with no airflow). We also did just sign our lease in July again for the year so I don’t even think her telling me she’s raising it in a text is legal. We are basically the best tenants too like we’re always considering her (she lives below us) and trying to conserve as much energy as possible bc this was also an issue last year (same month) bc hellooo global warming!!! and it’s only going to get hotter each year!! we always try to be quiet too so it’s like truly want not do you want from us. Obviously money but we can’t fucking control the weather and if we did have the AC units off we’d definitely be suffering from heatstroke. So yeah don’t know what we’re going to do about this now but if she brings it up again we’ll have to have a sit down talk with her bc this doesn’t feel fair at all.
