I Think I Want To Change My Name In College To Nessarose (Nessa For Short). I Want To Distance Myself

I think I want to change my name in college to Nessarose (Nessa for short). I want to distance myself from my past and my family a bit without completely reinventing myself (I’ve had a couple family issues in my childhood). Is this a good idea?

You’ll come to find out that it’s hard to believe in things until you give them life. How kindness seems so unfamiliar until you’re the one who’s actively trying to be kind to others. How dreams seem far away until you do your research and try your best. How friends seem like a foreign concept until you start to ask people to lunch more often. The best things in life don’t come find you as you sit and wait. You have to go out there and decide they exist.

I was once talking to my therapist about my dog and I said "she looks at me like I am the best person in the world" and my therapist said "maybe you should look at yourself like that too". That was months ago, and it stuck with me, because whenever my dogs look at me with so much love in their eyes, I can't help but to think that I can look at myself with love and kindness too and maybe it's not that hard to do so.
