Bleeding Cool released an article earlier regarding current news about comic licenses and companies, with IDW and My Little Pony being some of the few that were mentioned.

The article claims that Hasbro and IDW came to some sort of agreement to slow down into 2025. There may not be any more comic releases after "The Storm of Zephyr Heights" until Hasbro figures out what to do next. This all could explain why the amount of issues for the comic were shortened down to three large ones instead of the usual five, as IDW must have rushed to get the issues published before 2025.

Interestingly, the article also claims that because G5 did not perform as well as anticipated, IDW has kept the My Little Pony license for this long because no other company of the same level wants it. 

Of course, we're not sure how accurate these claims are but it does seem like they line up with what we know. We'll just have to wait and see.
