thinking about some parallels between stanford pines and cliff bradshaw. really fucking hard.

two guys who abandoned everything to go to a different place to further their careers (ford with his studies and cliff with his writing), trusting the wrong people really fast and only realising when it was too late (bill and ludwig), a doomed relationship with someone they deeply cared about and couldn’t see was not happy with what was happening (fiddleford and sally). AGH

and with stanley being maybe this time coded??? maybe this time being partially about sally’s conflicted feelings regarding CLIFF?? man.

charlie graham and mabel pines would be great friends by the way

desperately need to play the emcee but an emcee where its ambiguous if they’re a man or a woman because even though their body their face and their voice are a woman’s they act and dress like a man and when the show begins they’re barely wearing anything (but in a masculine way with full on body hair mens clothing tits out and all) but throughout the show they start dressing more modestly and feminine and covering up more and more and at around I Don’t Care Much they’re wearing a dress and looking like a woman and the question ends up being is this character a man being played by an actress who’s a woman? is this character a woman crossdressing as a man? is this character’s gender something else and they’re hiding it because of what’s happening around them? who knows their fate is sealed either way

i looooove love love stories where everything looks fun and silly with some morbid undertones but if you think about it a bit more its a gut wrenching story where everyone is doomed and they were fucked from the beginning and the colors and jokes fooled you

i really really like the contrast between the box scene in the 2015 and 1974 movies because it really shows how different each movie characterises the aviator’s dynamic with the little prince

in the ‘74 version he’s a lot softer with him, having already been annoyed and dismissive with the previous three drawings, but when he gives the LP the box he immediately softens when he sees he liked it. it shows how much more caring he is towards the LP since the very beginning

in the 2015 version, on the other hand, the aviator is dismissive the whole way through, only seeming intrigued after the LP accepts the box. he doesn’t smile at him, he just looks at him in confusion and intrigue. it’s a lot more similar to the book, but it’s done a lot more hurriedly since again. the main focus of this movie is not the original little prince story.

i also think its fun to see the differences between 1974!LP and 2015!LP like in the way 1974!LP is a lot more aware of the aviator and to me feels more like a normal kid while 2015!LP is a lot more in his own world (similar to the books) and feels more like a strange being than a little kid

idk i just think its neat. we are seeing a man become a dad to a star child in real time
