The Avengers have to go to these international galas/ gatherings for the good PR like once or twice a year, and at one event (picture Cannes 2015) the dress requirement is that the women must wear high heels unless they wish to be turned away at the door. So, after some deliberation, Natasha Romanoff does in fact show up in her blood-red Louboutins.

…As does Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, Thor Odinson, Bruce Banner, James Rhodes, and Vision. In fact, thanks to Tony’s vast array of contacts, about 80% of the men invited to the gala turn up in high heels too. After all, Miss Romanoff especially requested it, and who are they to say no to her?

 Of course, most of the evening is spent with men in various positions of power and influence tumbling to the floor or trying to remain balanced as they walk. There are around 8 sprained ankles. They spend the whole night complaining of blisters and sore feet, and eventually this results in that 80% of male attendees removing their shoes and going barefoot. And obviously, if the men are doing it, then the women have no reason to prolong the discomfort, so off theirs come too. This results in a large portion of the attendees not wearing shoes at all, which was probably not what the organizers had in mind for dress code, but hey, it probably didn’t matter. They were just shoes, right?

The Avengers (sans poor Bruce, because unlike Tony & Clint, he has no experience in heels (dont ask) and unlike all the rest, he doesn’t have the balance to play it off) all remain wearing them though. Never say Natasha and her team are ones to break the dress-code! The organisation want heels? Well, she sure as hell gave them heels. And hell. But mostly heels.
